I saw a Horse Race on television with my grandpa a few minutes ago, and there were some horses racing. There was one called, oddly enough, Helms Deep. So I watched the way,and evidently Helms Deep won the Race with a 10 or 15 foot lead.

Pretty interesting.

lord of the pings?

If you mean by LOTR: Return of the King, the release date is December 2003. Probably around the 15-20th.

Not really surprising, after all the names from LOTR are probably not going to contain names already used for registered horse names.
I know that they also have to pass certain criteria, as not to be rude, or step on copyright or trademarks..
