View Full Version : Forcefield error

I have a leak. It is no normal leak. it is a forcefeild leak. I put a skybox behind the forcefield. The forcefield is supposed to open up and a trigger_hurt behind it (A nebula skybox) is supposed to kill you. Now I compile my map. I type in "r_clear 1" (actually I bind a key to it. bind v "toggle r_clear") for debugging. I can see the void. It is pink cause i typed in r_clear 1. Why can i see the void even when i have a skybox behind it. I went into noclip mode and as soon as I go in the space behind the forcefield, the void is gone. I can see my normal skybox. Don't blame the trigger_hurt, it's transparent and I tried removing it. So what is causing the problem?

If your forcefield is an entity, then I don't know. But if it's not, then it has to be detail brush.

Did you make a trigger out of the system/trigger texture, or did you right-click the skybox brush and select trigger_hurt? If you did the 2nd, then your skybox is really an entity and doesn't block VIS, and leaves an opening into the void. The skybox needs to be structural, and the trigger needs to be a separate brush in front of it.

Um I put a system/trigger textured bush behind it :) and I said when I go behind the forcefield, I can see my skybox without a void ;). Lesley your amazing. You should be RichDiesals sidekick! You solved my problems once more! the forcefield was structural! :( . Better fix it.
Do you want to develope this SP map? I'm getting tired of recompiling which takes 1 hr. Just be sure to give me credit! :D And give me your e-mail so I can post it to you.

Thanks the offer, but I have my own SP map to build. :) Why don't you really want to finish it?
