I would say patience and time. It certainly has taken a good load of both of them, and I'm still not finished. Of course, I can hardly call myself great, but it seems to me, that even AK did take his time with Party Crasher.

Definately imagination, creativity and vision. Skill and experience help too because in my experience. the more you do, EVEN if you dont finish the maps (which I am often very guilty of :D ) As long as you keep on mapping and trying new, and better things, you gain experience and skill, and that makes it easier to make those great maps you are envisioning.

definately Artistic flair

taking things from life or films helps to.

and big drops makes for a more dramatic location :p

oh and ya dont have to be mad to map but it helps HEHEHE :D
