this forum is a place to discuss anything (offensive material is a no no, but NO subjects should be avoided) this is a general discussion forum and we're supposed to be able to talk about anything, but lots of threads are gettin closed cuz they're "pointless" or "against the rules" or somethin like that. what are your thoughts people? what are your explanations mods?

if any of you close this you should have your power takin away cuz you don't deserve it, this is a thread that has meaning and doesn't break any rules:p and it isn't flaming anyone, so you can't close it cuz then it'd be against being a fair mod and u would probably lose your powers, so again :p

Well pointless threads need to be closed in order to not clutter the forums up. I really can't see anything the mods are doing wrong...dunno, maybe I'm blind. :nutz1:

well, recently we've been getting more and more trolls/spammers/flamers ever since JK3 was announced.

This happens to every forum each time a new game is announced.

The reason more threads are being closed is because we've tighten (sp?) the belt. Before we could let some stuff flow because everybody who was here (after the JK2 release) were frequent visitors.

But now we're recieving a fresh batch of visitors.

but some of them are innocent posts, like the donut one, who likes what kind of donuts, that wasn't pointless, maybe the guy bet someone on what kind of donut was more popular, who knows, maybe he just wanted to know what donuts people liked, innocent enough and didn't break any rules, but groovy closed it for reasons he only knows, this may be me, but i think he just closes the ones he chooses, i've seen 2-3 of the ones he's done, none of them broke any rules i knew/know of, but that's just me

Great analogy...and yes, we've had an interesting day to say the least over at the Jedi Acadamy forum. :)

the swamp is an off-topic forum, not a no-topic one ;)

Just think of the donut thread as a 2 word game thread...

"Krispy Kreme!"

"Dunkin Donuts!"

why are there so many closed threads now?

Because the Mods closed them :p

I don't see anything wrong with what they're doing. People need to get over themselves. Don't they have anything better to do than complain?

you know i had the same kinda thing over at my forum. Some idiot posted up a topic, i can't remember exactly what it was called but it was along the lines of "i like peanuts" and inside it said "i like peanuts" ...i closed the topic. I mean great you like peanuts, what's that got to do with anything. Next thing I know 2 ppl are complaing to me saying that it was posted in the off topic forum so why did i close it. Well if i wanted a forum where ppl could post any old crap in em i wouldn't have moderators or even bother moderating myself would i x.x

Yeah talk about stuff, just don't let it be something stupid or one of those topics that's just plain annoying or been done SO many times you just wanna kill someone if u see another one like it. You know out of all the open topics there are very few closed ones, and this is the swamp too so most of u know what i mean when i say a couple of closed topics doesn't matter.

These forums have mods for a reason, and I reckon the mods around here do a good job. I should know I talk to quite a few mods and a lot of them are my forum mates... Don't worry about one or two closed topics. It's not the end of the world, I mean come on, the swamp is one of the most posted in forums in all of LF, of course there's gonna be a few closed topics.

One thing you should learn is to never argue with a mod. They were chosen to moderate a forum for a reason and it's their job... If only people saw it from the mods/supermods/admins point of view for once. They're trying to run a very busy set of forums here u know...

Hmm, well, it doesn't really matter. But I wonder why the "We are dictators" Thread is still open. :p

The same thing happened to me. My thread wasn't pointless and it was about star wars. It didn't ask any stupid questions, it wasn't spam, wasn't flaming anyone, and it wasn't insulting to the forum. Why was it closed? Who the hell knows?

The mod's reasons for closing anybody's threads lately boggles the mind. If someone could truly clear this up and seriously explain, that would help.

there is a usefull feature on this forum we call PM. if you want answers on your closet thread its better to pm a mod/admin (i suggest the one who closed it) about it rather than posting a thread which most likely will get closed again. ;)

and as said before:the swamp is an off-topic forum, not a no-topic one
