End of an Era?

Michael Jordan played his last game of professional basketball last night. After all the feats he has pulled off it has finally ended.

Michael Jordan was always a hero to me. I grew up in Chicago, and watched the Bulls fight their way to a championship, and after moving around more, I ended up in Washington D.C. during Michael Jordans final year with the Wizards.

I desperatly wanted to see him in the playoffs but, it was not meant to be. I shouldn't be sad that he is now really gone as a player, he accomplished so much during his career, with six championships, a world title, and other countless prizes, but I still am. :(

Out of all the athletes that ever lived, nobody loved a sport more than MJ.

He is a legend among legends.

Never was a big basketball fan, but I remember watching him on TV, score that final goal in '98. He was amazing to watch.

He really cared about his fans, and his first love was and always will be basketball. You could always tell when you watched him play.

Long live MJ, and best wishes in his retirement.

way back when I was just a little kid playing basketball with my friends, we all always wanted to be Michael. I was and still am a big fan of MJ. he will always be the greatest basketball player ever... to me at least

The thing I liked the most about MJ was that, he never played for th emoney, he played for th elove of the game. If he had played for money then he would have never left to try baseball.

he was my hero aswell. i can remember seeing the 94 playoffs on eurosport and being very exited about the micheal vs barkley duel. numerous times have i, with the help of a bench, tried to do the same dunks as he did.

Man, I used to be the biggest Jordan fan... I have over 300 Jordan Basketball cards stored away. It was great to watch the Bulls repeat the Threepeat... I can't help but wish he'd retired after that, though. It's not right to see someone so legendary just fade away on the court like he did :(

Yea when i was little I always would watch the bulls and MJ. he was my favorite basketball person ever. And he will always be. He loved to play basketball and it was his dream come true. And now that he is old he can live a happy life, acording to what he has accomplished in his professional career.

I admit it...I'm not a Michael Jordan fan. He's just always been so arrogant. I was glad to see him lose with the Wizards. And I'm glad he's going. :)

Thats fine, but you can't deny what he did for the NBA as a whole. Basketball's popularity rose to heights never before seen, and his image brought a lot of money to all the teams in the league.

I do concede that he did probably raise interest in the NBA and that he probably was the best player, skills-wise. But even in recent times when Jordan was with the Wizards, ratings still slumped and I doubt basketball will ever reach the popularity of baseball or football.

I am not upset to see MJ leave. He helped the Bulls out, but when he returned after his first retirement, the sport just wasn't the same to me... (although the only times I went to the United Center to see the Bulls play were when Rodman was with the team and MJ had returned from his 1st retirement I think...)

And wahat really ticked me off was the fact he said he'd play for no one else but Phil Jackson, yet he was not playing for the Lakers, but the Bullets Wizards... :rolleyes:

Sorry, but I really hope he stays retired this time.

*** I guess I feel betrayed since I am in IL and the Bulls are my team and he seemed to have just left them for the Wizards... :( (It was bad enough when he was playing for the White Sox!!!)

Hey! hey! Don't get me wrong, I'm a big baseball fan, been following the sport for years, but its popularity has been deterioting the past decade. There is a lot of crap going around the league, especially with the owners, and Bud Selig is just an idiot.

Well I just watched a special on TV on MJ, and it was showing all of his greatest moments. Mine has to be when he got around a double team, went baseline, and threw down a huge dunk with Pat Ewing right in front of him, trying to stop him.......

Yes, I was very disapointed when he didn't win the All-Star game, and I was very sad when he retired.
BTW, Anyone know how he did when he palyed in MLB? ;)

Yea he was cause he was old and doing it for a cause. i think for charity or something like that. Anyway even though he wasn't that good he was doing it for a cause.:)
