View Full Version : Sam N Max/Steve Purcell news!!

05-15-2003, 10:19 PM
Here's the reply I just got from Steve Purcell when I asked him about his involvement with the new SNM game and about the old Infinity Machine one:

Yeah, I am consulting on the game. Although the concept art shows a space
station, the story has nothing to do with the Infinite Machine version. That
one was based on a story that I worked out years ago called Sam & Max Plunge
Through Space that I would still like to do as a comic or film project since
it's such an epic saga. I did all the concept art that Infinite Machine had
on their website. On the LucasArts site most of the art is done by other

members of the awesome team but I did the guy in the beret and red jacket. I
like the 3D version of Sam & Max but I'm also using the game as an
opportunity to get some kind of comics project going so there could be some
2D Sam & Max in the near future, too.

I tried to send this to the peeps at MixNMojo news but their stupid email addresses aren't working -- how frustrating

So hopefully they'll see this instead and put it on the main page!!

Interesting, eh?

Thanks for the news squinky :D

Ah well done! This is good to know. It means that whatever kind of game it is, even if its an FPS, it will still have the humour!

Ooh, didn't anyone see the interview with Purcell in PCGamer (it was posted on the unofficial SamnMax site) it mentioned his involvement there. Here's a link (not going to post the pic, too big)

This should be of some interest to those who haven't seen it yet. :D enjoy

Oh, and Thunderpeel, great, thanks for the info ;)

Someone should post this up in the Sam and Max forums too, I would, but I'm lazy

05-18-2003, 03:45 AM
i would, but that forum is full of strange new people and one very bitter SyntheticGerbil

I'm just curious ThunderPeel, how did you get Steve Purcell's e-mail adress?

05-19-2003, 03:46 AM
It's on this page (http://www.samandmax.net/main.php?section=historyfaq&page=interview1_5) of an interview with Steve on Samandmax.net.

05-19-2003, 10:18 AM
Argh, not hotmail!!

You should give him an @samandmax.net e-mail address. ;)

Hope this means a reprint of "Surfin the Highway"

06-01-2003, 01:06 PM
I wouldn't count on it. I guess a lot of collectors might get a little pissed if there was one.

06-01-2003, 01:23 PM
Screw the collectors. :D

06-01-2003, 02:02 PM
I never liked them anyway.

Collectors are bad people.

06-01-2003, 05:23 PM
The Collector, sounds like a Schwatznegger movie.

06-01-2003, 07:01 PM
Well "the Collector" was a bad guy in a halloween episode of the Simpsons.

("The Collector" has actress Lucy Lawless trapped in her Xena garb)
Collector: Care for a Rollo, sweet Xena?
Lawless: All right Collector, stick this in your tweezers - I'm not
Xena! I'm an actress, you lunatic!
Collector: Oh, please, I'm not insane. I simply wish to take you
back to my lair to be my bride.
Lawless: Oh, dear God!

06-02-2003, 05:17 AM
I like the sound of that! :D
Yey... But... So... the concept is really from that "dead" samnmax game then?

06-02-2003, 05:51 AM
i thaught it was just from a sam and max story

There's a preview (http://www.adventuregamers.com/display.php?id=264) in the form of an interview with Michael Stemmle at Adventure Gamers.

He talks about the staff, engine and how S&M2 was re-born.

Boy, can I not wait for that game!
