Anyone else have this game? Been out for a few days now - it's absolutely brilliant :D

Way better than the PS2 version. I love it, and am totally addicted :p

GTA 3 seemed like a perfect game when it came out, now Rockstar seem to have gone and made a perfect game better!

Top quality!

Yeah it's supah dupah great!! I think it is slightly better than GTA3; better graphics, motorcycles, helicopters, cutscenes etc. But it has a different feel and that's what I like about these two games, you don't get the feeling they're the same!!

BTW, the graphics look GREAT!! I really like the boulevard, with all the neon lights, just great!!

And if you collect secret packages, you get nice pickups, here's a gide to get them, it's way harder to get them, but the ultimate reward is an APACHE HELICOPTER!! To get it you have to fly in the military base verytime, but it's worth it, easy vigilante missions hehe :)

I have not forgotten about it, I've been playing it everyday since it's release! I agree with your assessment of the game as well! I just think they did something right with this new game......and I didn't think that GTA 3 left much room for improvement. :)

My favorite thing is to cruise around on the motorcycles! :D

It's really adrenaline pumping to ride on a PCJ 300 (or whatever ;)) at full speed on the wrong side of the longest straight road you can find... And then bumping into a big truck... OUCH!!!

Oh and once you get yourself a nice villa, I like looking at it, thinking 'I told you I was going to make it, MWUAHAHAA' :)

Are you guys buying properties already?? Makes you a good deal of money too you know :) I bought the Malibu club with the $100,000 I earned with finding the hidden packages :D And now I have acces to new missions and stuff, replayability is BIG with GTA:VC too!!

I haven't played it anywhere near enough to have found all the hidden packages yet :p

I'm playing the missions at the moment, some are pretty tough. However, I've got some time on my hands, so maybe I'll go for the hidden packages :p

I just bought a property in Downtown that has a Maverick on the roof, I just fancied having my own private chopper :p

HertogJan
05-17-2003, 06:04 PM
Well if you can buy property in downtown, you must have finished the Diaz Mansion mission right?? There's a helicopter on that roof too. And with 80 packages there's a chopper with mounted machingun that can land on water at the back of the mansion :)

I'm kinda stuck now btw, I have a mission where I have to drive against some unbeatable guy (it's a Malibu Club mission) and one where I have to steer some airplanes with bombs to cuban boats, but I just can't control those damn planes!!

coupes.
05-17-2003, 06:26 PM
i agree, the RC planes missino is kinda hardm but beating the guy in the race isn't, i got it on the first try... but keep trying because your next malibu mission is really cool, probaply one of the best in the game, IMO.

HertogJan

I believe it's a bank robery, I've seen much bank-like buildings in Downtown, so it could be possible. After all, I've just recruited a gunner and a safe cracker, hehe :)

For those of you who have played it on PS2...is it different on PC?

I am sooo stuck on the Helicopter mission where you shoot the people from it. Its horrible....

coupes.
05-19-2003, 12:58 PM
it is a bank roberry indeed, and it's pretty cool, but not that hard though.

i had played the PS2 version before and it's the same exept you can't target like on the PS2, if you can well i can't do it.

In the helicopter mission, that's precisely what you do -- shoot people til its over. I dont see why anyone who can have the game on PS2 would play it on PC.

HertogJan
05-19-2003, 02:12 PM
The helicopter mission is EASY on PC... It's a fairly early mission I believe, where you fly over the house in Prawn Island right?? Well just shoot everyone, with the mouse it's easy :)

You guys are so mean....well the gun is touchy on ps2 and NEVER seems to go where it is supposed to ...you tap it to the right and goes WAY right..so you tap to the Left and it goes WAY left...it makes for annoying combat.

I just played the "Cop Land" mission - that was damn hard!

I also have all the hidden packages, and in combination with a cop uniform makes getting the Hunter easy ;) It's great fun flying that thing round - especially air combat with police copters :p

I need to find all the cars on the list at the showroom, then the business should start making some real money :)

I'm replaying the game again and I have 98 secret packages. I'm missing one at the airport near the tower? The other I have no clue, but I kow I have all from the first island, middle islands, and the top half of the last island. It has to be South of Phil's place?

The hardest cars for me were the golf cart and the sabre (it wouldn't appear forver).

I found a dead body who looks like Diaz in the the water with cement "shoes" on. Go to the linkin links golf course. Off the coast between the course and the last island is a small underwater rock formation. He's just below the surface with his hands up. THere's also a huge tanker that crashed in the South port harbor of the last island. It's South of those little water huts. :D

Eh have you read this guide?

http://bradsnet.net/index.asp?F=grand%5Ftheft%5Fauto%5Fvice%5Fcity%5Fp ackages%2Etxt

It helped me finding the packages :) I'm to lazy to search for them myself, I only found 12 of them before I started with the guide :) Oh and you can use pretty much any hidden packages map that has numbers to use with this guide, the numbers are the same and a map can be very nice :)

I now completed the pole position club asset and now it's starting to make money. Next I'll do the taxi missions and then the sunshine cars missions... And after that I'll buy more property :)

Oh BTW, when you buy the pole position, a mr. vercetti suit is delivered a few buildings further, it's really great :)

94. North of #93 there is a fire station. It has an antenna on top, it's
impossible to miss. This package is on the west side of the building.

That's the one I'm missing, but I can't find it. I've searched for a good while now. I'm going to look from #62 to #99 and see what I can find.

I used that map and guide when I was stuck at 87 packages. I found 11 more easily after that. I went in order, but still can not find the last two. I just want the hunter to beat the missions again, lol. I've beaten the game already, but now I'm plaing to get as much ammo before I do the missions. It makes a big difference in the game, lol :D

The fire station one is BEHIND the fire station by the water...

The bradsnet guide is brilliant, that's what I used. I had a map too, but never needed it because the guide explains everything so well ;)

You mean Sunshine Cars, the one you can buy?? I didn't need a limo for those missions :) I found them all pretty quick. And yes, the Diaz mansion usually has a limo :)

Also I did the 'Job' mission now, it's great and I like the interior of the bank :D I now completed the assets for Kaufmann Cabs, Pole Position Club, Malibu Club, er... that's it I believe, now I need to do the shipyard asset :)

For real, although I must admit I use the 'leavemealone' cheat sometimes when Im not in the mood for being chased by the police, when I'm cruising the town, making stoppies etc :)

I haven't cheated once...

I'll probably cheat to mess around once I have completed all the missions :)

Hmmm the diaz mansion has a inferno and a admiral.... no scretch... ow yeah.. where can i get thse cool clothes... mr vercetti clothes

coupes.
05-21-2003, 01:24 PM
the stretch isn't always there, but from time to time it is, check back another time. As for the mr.vercetti clothes, i beleive you need to buy the pole position strip club or finish the pole position 'mission'.

HertogJan
05-21-2003, 01:49 PM
Yeah you must complete the pole position 'asset' (;)) first to be able to get the mr vercetti suit :) The pole positions is near the south of the big island to the east. Then you can get those clothes a few buildings up north, on the same street the club is...

PrimoSidone
05-21-2003, 02:52 PM
K i got the suit nice :D but i never ever saw a screth there....

is there any other spawn point?

Yeah the love fist studio has a parked stretch after you finish all love fist missions...

Hmmm where did the apache spawn when u had all packeges?

HertogJan
05-29-2003, 01:25 PM
In the back of the military base, north of the airport... The base is divided in sections though, so you must fly a helicopter in there to get the apache :( It's called the Hunter in-game btw :)

The_One
05-29-2003, 01:49 PM
If you've done the mission "Cop Land", you can get a cop uniform from the station, and walk in without being attacked.

HertogJan
05-29-2003, 03:58 PM
Yeah you can walk into the base and access the tank, but you can't reach the hunter/apache, cause it's in another enclosed part of the compound... I personally don't think it's very hard to grap the hunter without a cop uniform :)

coupes.
05-29-2003, 04:51 PM
the hunter only appears at the military base once you've completed all the missions, i think if you have 100 packages, it appears somewhere else (i don't know, i don't have 100 packages yet). To get the Hunter at the military base you defenately need the cop uniform, otherwise the soliders make you look like swiss cheeze. An if you try flying in with another helicopter, well... if you manage to get in the hunter well you're very lucky, cause usually they'll just shoot down your chopper, and it doen't take them much time...

and you can get to th hunter by foot in the military base...

just when you enter the base walls, look to the left, you shoud see some stairs against a wall, go up these stairs and then go north (i think) until you reach a wall then go left and you should see a narrow passage. Take this way and right after the corner, thake the stairs to your right down, and enter the 'training' area throught the door to the left of the big tower. Then go all the way to the eastern wall and look left, you should see an opening in the fence, go through it and go west untili you reach the Hunter! voilà!

Let me tell you the Hunter makes the 'vigilante' missions a heck of a lot more fun and much much easier.

Oh... It said the Hunter was delivered to the helipad on ocean beach?? Gotta check for myself :) Well I think they mean the helipad near the waterfront :) It's on the same waterfront where Cortez's boat is, only a few hundred meters away if I remember it right :)

The_One
05-30-2003, 12:50 PM
OK I'll try to clear this up:

If you have either got 100 hidden packages OR completed the mission "Keep your friends close to you" (final story mission) then the Hunter will spawn at the army base.

If you have completed BOTH, then it will spawn at the army base AND the helipad on Ocean Beach.

I hope you understand that now :)
