My grandpa was in Little Jimmy Dicken's band :D

Okay, so I am at home, still on break and all, and came across a guitar case in my bedroom. Thinking my mom got me a guitar or something, I opened it to find and old, beaten up looking guitar. I asked my mom about it, and apparently it was my Grandpa's old 8 string Epiphone. I was like 'Oh, okay' and excited.

He apparently left my siblings and I all his old instruments; my sister his old acoustic, my brother his steel guitar, my mom his violin, and I, his 8 string.

They are all the instruments he played and recorded music with Little Jimmy Dickens on, while he was still a member of the Grand Ole Opery. I am extremely excited to play it, but my mom wants to have it insured and repaired (he never clipped the strings on it, so I cut myself on guitar strings from the 40's. I probably have lockjaw -.-) The violin she is selling, though, because it apparently has a worth of somewhere between $25,000-$30,000. I don't want her to sell it. It's 150 years old and I think it's special.

I never really knew that much about my Grandpa, only that he was a country musician and played at the Opery. I miss him. ;^;
