WIP: AT-PT
Hi, i have developed the AT-PT (All Ter..) from rogue squadron games cuz is cooler than atst :p.
Here is the shot :P I'm looking foward if somebody could skin it because my skills arent good at all :/, and i don't know how to get this ingame :( |
This r0xx0rs! Weighting and animating it might be a bit hard, but sure is possible! I can try, but no promises asaf_sch@walla.co.il
Yeah, that's really like the Rogue Squadrons ATPT, ingame it will lookawesome
Wow looks cool! You should try to do a prequal AT-ST, the picture that was on TFN looked awesome.
What prequal AT-ST? and whats TFN  ill look at google lol, tfighter, wait a little cuz i have to take some uwmaps first
Ah, theforce.net =p, mean this one?
http://theforce.net/episode3/newspics/baby_ATST.jpg Well, make the guy be there would make the atst be a swoop type instead of a vehicle i think :/ |
I always loved the AT-PT for the way he looks at moves. :)
Yea I would say it would be a swoop bike also, but with ATST weapons. It looks awesome. I know if your able to do the ATPT then u can do that. The ATPT's are cool, I only wish that they were seen more in the movies.
Or any for that matter, AT-PTs were not in the movies, they were only in the Extended Univerese
Well, ill send the AT-PT now tfighter, cuz i have finished the uwmaping http://es.geocities.com/lightninjatpt/
I gave it a skeleton, and already wheightened 1 leg. I gave the legs 3 bones, is that enough? I think it will be. I'll continue with it later, I'm kinda busy now.
yah, 3 bones r right i think also be carefull with the legs weight and weight some verts to two bones, well i think that u know what i mean
Damn! Making a walking animation is really hard!
Here's the one I did before I relized he's just walking in place.

hey really nice animation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, i know is hard, thx, and happy 2004 all :D
They are in the movies, look toward the end of the battle of hoth in empire strikes back. They show one walking out in the snow. And the picture and video looks great! Cant wait to see it in game!
WOW! AT-PT walker, cool!
a walking cycle for a two leged vehicle is damn difficle. to look realistic it needs to have a dynamic equipoise. if you take a look at ravens AT-ST, the "hips" are moving dynamicly sidewise to keep the centre of mass above the standing leg. and if you have such a fitting walking cycle, you have to add a >standtowalk< and >walktostand< animations on how to get from standing on both legs to this dynamic equipose movement. on each leg the AT-PT needs at lest one ball-and-socket joint, like hips on the human body. (so we can shake our back:)) looking at the blueprints i am not sure if the AT-PT realy has such a joint, but for a dynamic equipose movement it needs to have one. btw, make sure you dont mirrored the bones, for ex. mirroring the right leg to the left. creat every bone individualy befor starting to animate or you get hell of difficultes. believe me! its difficlult but this will be a realy cool model! |
Also it needs to be smoothed out. I'm hoping your not done.
The feet need bones and animating to look like gravity is effecting them. I'd also do some research into the way mechwarriors move. You think that is bad. Try animating the Acklay. I had to do research into bat and crab movement. And had to animate a modified alternate tripod movement. I'm going back now and reanimating everything again because I really want it realistic. Hope Monsoontide can wait a little. |
The Acklay is the best vehicle I ever used!
Don't worry duncan, I didn't mirror it, and yes, it does need a feet bone. I think I'm gonna start it all over again. I searched the internet for AT PT animation, and didn't find any. Finally, I remembered I have Force Commander :) |
I'm waiting to see if RenegadeofPhunk can do melee moves for vehicles before I get the Acklay finally finished.
If im not mistaken there was some AT-PT's in the Rouge Squadron games also.

Tfighter here u have the info of atpt weapons type http://www.theforce.net/swtc/Pix/books/egvv/atpt2.gif
Well I never bothered every getting Force Commander, but have seen alot of stuff about it. Ive mostly just played the Rouge Squadron games. I hope we are able to get those weapons to work as said from the blue print of the AT-PT. I actually have that book, theres alot of neat vehicles in it. Alot would be great to make for JA.
Yeah Zappa, Duncan, you are right about the dynamic equipoise, but i've seen in Rouge Squad that the AT-PTs are fasters than AT-ST so the dynamic equipoise is not very pronuncied because the legs move quicker so it dont needs the same dynamic equipoise than AT-ST i think, but it needs one anyway lol =P
I've tryed to do the skin for 3 times and it still looks like a sh*t :/, if somebody wants to do it tell me plz.
Wow great now we have an at-pt man this is soo cool!
I deleted the bones, and replaced them, because I needed that one more bone for each feet. I hope I'll be able to animate it properly now...
Good news! With the use of IK Solvers, I finally made a walking animation :D

tfighter, nice animation ;), also you forgot to weight something to other bone:
http://server5.uploadit.org/files2/030104-new.jpg |
What did I forget?
Lol wait, wrong screen LOL (the one now is the good one)
It's a bit of a problem, since it's part of the other part of the leg.
i know, then at weighting that part add the foot bone too and weight those verts to that bone
Sorry, but I can't weight it right.
It's not like anyone would notice... |
my enlgish is a little sucky, what did u mean? =p
also the model should move up a little when he has only one leg on the floor, i think you know what i mean, and if u cant weight that right then just make it longer and it will look like if it were weighted there (i think)
I think I fixed it.
nice then :D
How do you want the death animation to look like?
