The Great Things About HOTH

In my opnion I think that the Hoth battle may be one of the greatest Star Wars battle so far, not that the other ones aren't good. Its just shows the power that the Empire had and the rebels just running around like mice fighting. Plus its kinda the first time you really get to see Luke use the light saber. Anyways in the game I think that this is a great level for the same reasons. Any 5 year old can play the empire and win. But you know that you have a good team if you are the rebels and you win.

Obviously the main concearn in this level is the Large AT walkers. Although slow they have great firepower. So far I have been on a winning rebel team 2 times. Both times I was a gunner in the speeder with a good pilot the whole time. In just one game we had to take down 4 of the AT walkers. I might have played the level 6-7 times but won 2 times. The funny thing is that if your good and your taking down those AT's the guys on the Empire get ticked.

Another great aspect in the level is the tunnels there are 2 systems of them I think.

So far Hoth is the level that I have had the most fun on.

Anyone else have a good time there?

Indeed it's a lot of fun. What's nice is to get two pilots in each AT-AT (yes, the Imperial Pilots, not some Snowtrooper or Dark Trooper) because they can repair damage, making missiles and anti-vehicle batteries not something to worry about. If the pilots are good shots, they can blast away any Snowspeeders with the dual cannons. It almost gives the pilots a feeling of invincibility. Feeling the satisfying impact of a Vanguard's missiles absorbed by the strong armor... an inexperienced Snowspeeder pilot crashing into the monsterous legs... blasting away helpless and unsuspecting infantry...

i love the battle of hoth, its fun for both sides. rebel worrying about triping the AT-AT's and the AT-AT's worrying about the speeders triping them :atat:

ive gotten to be quite a good AT-AT pilot :D the challenge is getting those speeders before they can get you, ive gotten quite good at getting them as they pass around me. i think ive only been triped up once and that was a while back :P

AT-AT's forever!!!

:atat: :atat: :atat: :atat: :atat: :biggs: <omg save me!)

Not to ruin the Hoth battle, I also love it.... But if you are talking about single player fighting, you really dont have to take down any ATATs to win. Just get in the farthest turrent across for the imperials base and just keep blasting all the troops. You will easily win. Which brings me to my point. I wish this game was all about controling the spawn spots like all the battlefield games. This reinforcement killing is just not the way to go. It makes multiplay games way to short and single player just turns into a frag fest. I love the Hoth map and it can be great, but I would rather see the rebels have to survive the attack in a time limit with just empirials constantly attacking or control all spawn spots.... Right now, the map plays well, but its no challenge to beat it... ATATs are fun to bring down, but you dont need to either worry about them. Realisticly, they were a force to be dealt with.... Wish it was the same way in the game...

It may seem smart to leave the AT's alone but if you do or let them stand for too long they will come blest the stuffing out of your turret and hop out and get the control point. Remember that the AT's serve as spawn points so they can deploy where ever they are. I think they only way to win with the rebels is teamwork (someone wrote about this on one of the boards).

One more thing I could do with out the dark troopers on this level. But hey most of the people that play them respawn every minute or so.

why no dark troop?
:atpilot:

Godlike222 10-01-2004 07:35 PM

Well, that was the funny thing about ignoring them, they do not seem interested at all in attacking that spawn spot, they march right in front of you going toward the shield generator. And as far as the spawning from them goes, since you are in a turrent with unlimited ammo, you want them to spawn as much as possible... The more imperials you kill, the faster you win...

Which once again brings me to my point, it should be a different way to win these maps... not just in killing the reinforcements the fastest... Just try next time to ignore the ATATs ( i know its fun to bring them down) but you can easily win the hoth map without messing with ATATs at all...

Hoth is one of my favs, but i think i like being a rebel on the level with the Ewoks better, i think it's called Endor or something....

AT-Ats are the shiznit though... I mean if you didn't have those jets with the trip wires and only had 1 pilot you'd still win.

Hoth is a great map and all, but everyone seems to be saying it's their favorite. I think there are some much more fun maps. But Hoth is really great.

The AT-AT's are fun. But you keep getting team kills when your retard freinds decide to shine your shoes from the bottom.
They're even funner on the Rhen Var map though. One time, I got into an AT-AT and didn't leave until the game was over. I never died, and got 73 kills, and that's minus the 17 team kills. :D

I know what you mean about the reinforcements thing. I wish you could make the reinforcements really high, so that really the only way to win would be to get all the command points. Only about 5-10% of the time am I in a game where it is won by capturing command points, and not draining reinforcements.

Team-killing bots with AT-AT's is horrible. When they spawn at the AT-AT, they seem to like to hang around under the legs. What I really hate though is when you're repairing a Landspeeder or Fighter Tank with your fusioncutter, and the bot decides to run you over. :(

well I LOVE the hoth map especially as the rebels (the only map that I play the rebels on otherwise I hate them) I usually be the pilot of an :sspeeder: and fly around the :atat: with a gunner sitting back in the :sspeeder: And I love it tou just fly around and take down that :atat: the only thing I have problems with is to destroy AT-ST with the :sspeeder: they seem to have too weak primary fire

BTW: have you ever had a wookiee as gunner or pilot? their head pops out of the roof of the :sspeeder:

Another BTW: Hey TK-8252 :trooper: i spelled wookiee right:D

BTW again: If you play Online and is the server Admin you could put up rules that says anyone taht is the :dtrooper: or the :chewie: will be banned
