ARGH

CRY. I somehow posted a new thread when I meant to post a damned post to a thread.

So this is either a wildcard thread for INSANITY... or it could be deleted.

You can delete your own threads, you know. Before you get rideculed by some people, I suggest you do so :p

OR, depending on the way of things of this particular forum, this thread will take on a seperate life of it's own.

I agree... Dr McCoy can sometimes be witty.

Well now, here's an experiment, usually when someone starts a half decent thread, annoying idiots people come along and turn it into something irritatingly stupid. So I wonder what'll happen to this thread considering it wasn't started intentionally. Contrary to my job description (of which I have been issued none) I'm gonna keep this open.

If you watch it in English yes, perhaps so.
The Japanese is much better.

...there's one little problem... i (don't speak)/(can't understand) japanese... :p

...if we have to talk about anime-stuff, couldn't we do so about hellsing or cowboy bebop? these are the only two anime-shows i kind of like...

Ray Jones 12-30-2004 01:31 PM

McCoy had Japanese at school. Every day for a couple of hours. Especially at the subjects "looking cool", "how do klingon girls like it" and "alchemy".

...only the subjects "looking cool" (and i sucked there, i just look too stupid), "how klingon girls like it" (but that was in klingon the most time... well, we didn't speak that much there anyway... :naughty: ) and "alchemy" (building dooms-day-devices, not much talking there either)... and that's the problem...

Why do people use the term anime, we all know the proper term is Japanamation.

DrMcCoy 12-30-2004 03:04 PM

...yeah, but english isn't my first language, either...

Oh, hell no. : ( If it's going to be anime, it's gotta be good. Sadly, Inuyasha is far from that (for me). It makes me go :'( when it would come on after The Venture Brothers.

um..

Duck season!

Kj°len 12-31-2004 12:14 PM

1) It is anime, not standing for animation. it's a Japanese word, pronounced "Ah-nee-may",

2) Don't get confused by thinking Venture Brothers is an anime.

3) Inuyasha on Adult Swim, never really did it for me, but I can sincerely say I have enjoyed every single one of the 167 episodes in Japanese with English subtitles. The action, the romance, the love-triangle, the in deep story that is still left partially uncovered, cannot be opened by the bland voicework of the English dubs.

Oh no no. I am a big fan of Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer... Doc Hammer is also a fabulous oil painter (portraits) as well as comedy writer, but that's for another day. :)

Well, let me restate as I don't think saying "Inuyasha is terrible" is a fair statement, anyway. It's certainly not the worst anime television show I've seen and it actually attempts to brings some Yokai to mainstream modern cultures, but I am ruined by its rampant popularity. In fact I'm ruined for most anime because of this. Nevertheless, I do find I get soft spots for certain ones, like "Furi Kuri." And I can't really form a fair opinion without having seen the realy Japanese version. I guess I'll have to hit up Bit Torrent or something for that.

Orbyss 12-31-2004 10:15 PM

Piece of Metal, I have taken that Porn Addiction survey in your signature, and I am 45% addicted to porn. And I'm a girl.

Shame.

My friend and I used to watch porn like movies while eating popcorn when we were 12-16.

Hanging head in shame, now.

Not really.

PoM 12-31-2004 11:22 PM

Hehe, maybe i'm not that interested yet...Because i'm only 12..
Try the geek test as well.
You get 5 extra points for being a girl geek.

Orbyss 12-31-2004 11:23 PM

Hohboy!

I hear when you turn that magical number 13... magical things happen. :)

Orbyss 12-31-2004 11:47 PM

Bah!

Awwwe, I only scored about 33% geekiness. :( With a breakdown of:

+ Geekish Tendencies................................>09%
++ Geek.............................................> 15%
+++ Total Geek......................................>25%
++++ Major Geek.....................................>35%
+++++ Super Geek....................................>45%
++++++ Extreme Geek.................................>55%
+++++++ Geek God....................................>65%
+++++++! Dysfunctional Geek.........................>75%

But since I'm a female, I guess that's pretty good considering.

DrMcCoy 01-01-2005 04:39 AM

...i had only 61% at the geek test...

Well, yes, I feel the same way about somethings. If it's too popular I don't like to.... like it, just to join the crowd. But Inuyasha is a great anime regardless of it's fans, and if I was the only fan, or the billionth fan, I would love it all the same.

Now, I don't want to be an arrogant ass, but it's "youkai". American culture seems to like to take the "u" out of words and names after "o". Now I'm not telling you that you must use this term, or even that you are incorrect, it would just bother me too much if I didn't get it out there. I'm a very anal person, I guess. :p Sorry.

Fender 01-01-2005 12:42 PM

I got 6% on the Geek Test, I am a true loser.

'Twas a grievous typo rather than blatant Americanized spelling error. I don't make a lot of the former, and I certainly don't make many of the latter, either. ;)

Beyond the spelling, I only know a few actual Japanese "demon" (and other deity-type) names and characteristics: Oni, Tanuki, Tengu, Kappa, Onibaba, and obviously kitune [aka Kitsune, of course]. An online fellow artist and acquaintance professes knowledge in the matter of Youkai, hates Inuyasha (and most anime, I believe) and does wonderful, if trendy, artistic representations of a few.

I think you'd appreciate it, anyway. :)

Oh, and I always spaz if I see words like "colour" and "neighbour" without 'u'. That's fairly anal I think. :)

Gaa! When I started random threads with the same expirament in mind you not quite as open-minded. In fact, I remember you being pissed while suspiciously indifferent at the same time.

Anyway, I got a %30 on the porn test. Orbyss...I love you.

...i'm german, so i'm quite indifferent about the spelling of "color"/"colour", but i nearly always write "color", it's easier to type and more economical (saves on byte, yay)
