How long have you waited?

With the much anticipated release of Empire at War arriving faster than a speeding swoop race, many of us here on Lucas forums have been waiting for over a year now for Empire at War.

I actually heard about Empire at War in June of last year, and then found my way to these forums in Augest and have seen the growth of EaW and the community. I have to say, it was quite fun to be so involved in the forums and to be able to see Empire at War grow from just an idea to a few screen shots, then to a demo, and now the actual release!

So, how long have you been waiting?

Snafu7 02-02-2006 06:24 PM

Definately over a year, seems like I've been waiting forever, at least the waits almost ever anyways.

Jeff 02-02-2006 06:30 PM

I think I found out about it about a year ago, but didn't really start to get really interested in it until the summer.

I heard about it around the end of the summer.

Jmaster3265 02-02-2006 07:17 PM

Wasn't there a poll like this before? Anyways i found out in August maybe? Late Sept.

Darth_Extas 02-02-2006 09:54 PM

Sorry to say but, I found about Empire at War a few months before I joined LF, so I would say about a Year.

DarthMaulUK 02-03-2006 04:22 AM

There wasnt an option for two years!(late 2003) lol I knew of this RTS about then and was so excited. But back then I didnt have a clue who or what it was going to be like, just that it was coming...and its finally over.

I heard of it right when it was announced, but I didn't really take much interest in it. now that I'm going back to one of my old addictions - Strategy games, I started checking this one out. So, I'm the loner who chose 1 month.

Admiral Sith 02-03-2006 10:49 AM

I think I found it when they announced it

darthfergie 02-03-2006 11:43 AM

I've been waiting since I was 5 years old for a game like this. Ever since the anouncement of the game I was pumped about it and I definitely still am. :)

Ra2er 02-03-2006 09:52 PM

I only heard about it from the new C&C site advertising the 10 year collectors edition, that was at the end of Dec a little over a month ago. It was mentioned in a forum at some point, I went to find out about it and here I am. Great game, so glad I found out about it :) Can't wait for the 17th...

BattleDamage 02-06-2006 04:44 PM

I've been waitin for this all my life....

well actually since last Feb lol

popcorn2008 02-06-2006 04:55 PM

Well... well... only ten more days left. At least for America :). I have to say that when I first heard about this game I had my doubts and thought it was going to be anouther force commander. Boy, did they prove me wrong.

lukeiamyourdad 02-06-2006 08:00 PM

3 years :)

Yup...that's a long time...

Elukka 02-11-2006 04:14 PM

Luckily, just something like a month. It's just terrible to wait over a year for a game that you want now.

lukeiamyourdad 02-11-2006 06:14 PM

:dozey:

Since the release of SWGB:CC maybe? Close to 3 years and a half I think.

Foshjedi2004 02-11-2006 09:41 PM

Since rebellion came out: Over 10 ;)

endurell 02-11-2006 10:32 PM

Since I first saw Episode IV over 12 years ago....

Ok maybe that's a stretch, but I'd like to see anyone beat it! :)

Rogue15 02-11-2006 11:54 PM

since....oh before you were born.

j/k just found out about it in september i think?

aggie_john 02-12-2006 12:03 AM

I would have to say the early summer/ late spring when I saw the E3 video. Got really excited as soon as I found out the out westwood guys were working on it.

For a thousand generations Westwood was the creator of great RTS games, but that was before the dark times before EA. heehee.

EAWFAN 02-12-2006 12:28 AM

11/10/04 i read a gamespy press release 12 times that day and read every preview and such that came out after that 5 times and i even got cable internet (had dial up) so i could play multiplayer and download the demo :) i even got a brand new comp on halloween of 2005 so it would run perfect;) and now i wait for 5 almost 4 days (11:28pm) until it arrives!!!

I found EAW when they released the initial Press releases in January. I've wanted an EAW type game for years. Thats Why I play C&C and ST Armada so Much. I remember when there was 1 page on the LEC website for EAW one forum, When Sluggo was still there. Oh the memories!!

Hi All, First Time poster, Long time Reader

Ive been waiting for a game like this ever since i bought Rebellion back in '98. I loved the idea of building as big as a fleet as you liked and trying different strats out on how to conquer/ liberate the galaxy. So if you would ask me how long ive been waiting... well about 7yrs or so :)

alex124 02-15-2006 11:33 AM

i dident think it would work on my computer so i left it then found out it will so yay

DarthMuffin 02-15-2006 11:42 AM

I'm one of the three people who voted for "Just found out a few days ago!"

I originally did not intend to buy it, since ES4:Oblivion was supposed to come out around the same date (Oblivion being the absolute No 1 on my list right now). Seeing as it was delayed *again*, I decided last weekend to go for EaW. I always thought that a SW RTS without space combat was kind of rubbish, so that's what sold me to EaW. The upcomming mods look great too
