Hey guys, Jedi Knight and MOTS was 2 of the best games I ever played, I was playing DF2 mod for JA and thought man I wonder what it would look like with the maps of MOTS in the JA engine?

So here it is, the Mysteries Of the Sith TC, now It is only me sofar that is on the team, so in other words Im recruiting to see if anyone would like to join the team!!

You dont have to be a perfect modder, mapper, or skinner, just have the will and eager ness to see it get done!!

So plz if you would like to help out with the mod, plz let me know via this forum my forum or xfire.

Sadly there's not much interest left in JA for these types of large projects. Even the Dark Forces mod has slowed down dramatically.

You'd be better off starting a MotS mod for an unrelated but superior game, like Half-Life 2 or something. Can't beat the Source engine.

I think you mean DF since DF2 hasn't been released yet, except perhaps for our Yun duel map.

Anyway, making a MOTS of the Sith mod without any of the assets of Jedi Knight is kind of redundant, especially when all that material can easily be reused when Jedi Knight is finished or, if you really want to push it, completed a substantial portion of the game.

QFT!

Mysteries of the Sith was one the best games I ever played, slightly exceeding the greatness of JK IMO. I would love to see its brilliance in story, atmosphere, action, and adventure brought to the light of a modern graphics engine just as TK suggested. HL2's Source Engine is perfect because the community is huge, the engine is powerful yet not too cumbersome (coughDoom3cough), Steam can deliver, and the technology gets updated frequently.

Its sad to see How JKAs Modding community has Lowered and the community it self but Id still take the shot cause I mod alot.

Ya I ment DF sry, and about not using the assests of jk, we arnt, we mostly plan on remaking it, but also using ALOT of mots's resources as templates.

Just watch and see and you'll be surprised.

Steam sucks. Sure, it's a good idea, if you have broadband so that you can easily download the patches it force-feeds you, and if the company's server is up, and if the company never goes out of business.

I predict that a decade from now, nobody will be able to install Half-Life 2 without resorting to cracks because Steam will either be long-gone or Valve will no longer support games older than 5 years or so. Even then, where will you get patches for it?

"Steam Powered"? More like "Steam Crippled"

A MOTS mod would actualy be a very good idea. I support it fully

Kevyboy014 10-08-2007 01:50 PM

Hey, I dunno if you'll see this, this post is pretty old, but if so, where did you find the DF2 mod for JA? Lemme know...

DarkStarMojo 10-08-2007 03:31 PM

Wow. I haven't received a email notifications from LFN in a LOOOONG time.

Anyway, our website is located here:

http://shamusworld.gotdns.org/df2mod/news.html

There haven't been updates in quite a while, though I've been meaning to pull together some screenshots. Mostly, I'm doing the bulk of the work now and between my junior year of university, DFMod, and other projects it's slow going. Our Yun multiplayer demo should be available through one of the posts on the news page.

jedispy 10-14-2007 08:30 PM

So hey..what's the latest with the MOTS mod? You guys kind of fallen off the planet so it seems. We mods gotta stick together!!

hhunter6 10-16-2007 11:30 AM

last i checked their forum was down and i started a thread in the DF mod forum and nothing. i'm wondering if any progress has been made as well.

Prime 10-16-2007 11:47 AM

I think this died a long time ago...

Forceboat 10-17-2007 08:08 AM

hhunter,

You must have gotten Syfen's attention, because I just checked and he has gotten the forum back UP! Not that anything has been posted again yet, but it IS back up.

hhunter6 10-17-2007 08:35 AM

really? i'll have to check that out. at least they are still working which is good.

Forceboat 10-29-2007 09:14 AM

And now it is down AGAIN. Argghh.

archangel35757 11-21-2007 06:33 PM

The MOTS forum is down because they are completely besieged by spam bots and porn bots posting trash in their forums... if anyone can help them repel that crap then they'd probably leave the forums up.

jedispy 11-22-2007 02:41 AM

I doubt we'll ever see anything out of MOTS mod again. I hope we do though.

Speaking of forums being down, DF2Mod's message board is down:
http://df2mod.freeforumhost.com/

hhunter6 12-18-2007 04:09 PM

has anyone heard if this mod is still on? the site has been down for some time now

jedispy 12-18-2007 10:48 PM

The last that I heard was from the horse's mouth itself. The mod has been discontinued. I was given their source files as a backup just in case they want to start it up again. If not, then after the SOTE mod is completed I will start MOTS mod up myself.

hhunter6 12-19-2007 02:48 PM

well at least its still available for that. i'm just begining with skinning/mapping. if i get any good at it i'll send you some work and maybe i can give you a hand or something.

DarkStarMojo 12-25-2007 12:05 PM

The DF2Mod forums are down for the very same reason as MOTS. We had nothing but problems with spam bots and it also looks like our host Freeforumhost isn't very reliable with their own network as their main page displays similar coding errors. Based on our experience, I wouldn't recommend them and it doesn't look like I'd recommend invisionfree either, although I can't personally speak for Seph or any of the other MOTS team members. As for the project itself, I'm sad to see it go as they made some really cool stuff.

Jedispy, if you're willing to pick it up or DFMod when it wraps (I know we talked about that. It took longer than expected to finish) just let me know. I might have a busy schedule but I'm more than willing to give it the time, whenever I can.

jedispy 12-25-2007 09:41 PM

We'll see how things are going. SOTE Mod has actually been productive and busy lately. By the way, if there are any former team members of DFMOD and/or MOTS mod, please give me shout out. We can surely use the help (modelers, mappers, scripters, programmer, vocalists, etc.... sorry for the shameless plug)

hhunter6 12-27-2007 11:23 AM

Jedispy, which levels have been created for MOTS?

hhunter6 05-20-2008 04:06 PM

has anyone had contact with the guys from this mod? if they are not going to finish this, I'd like to take it over once I'm finished with the DFmod.

jedispy 05-20-2008 06:04 PM

I'll send you a PM

exonimus 11-12-2008 04:56 PM

Settled and arranged. The mod will continue full force soon. We have the source files, it's not much, but it's a start. We're in the planning stages right now(seeing what has to be done, if there are any models we can use, mailing around, etc.) expect to hear from us soon :)

Got a website yet?

exonimus 11-13-2008 01:29 AM

No. Do you know of a good webhost? or maybe getting it hosted at jediknight.net or jk3files.com would be benificial?

Mikouen 11-14-2008 01:56 AM

If you're willing to wait a little while, there's a source code release for the full iD Tech 4 engine due mid-2009.

It'll give you far more power than JA will, at any rate, and you might actually have a chance at getting an MotS remake that captures the fun parts of the original's gameplay, which JK2 and JA totally failed to do.

Just a thought, and a better idea than a Half-Life 2 mod at any rate.

Oh, and.... Forumer? Yuck. Whoever recommended that to you, did it purely out of spite....

exonimus 11-14-2008 04:30 PM

I'm not sure about the iD tech 4 engine. We'll have to wait for quite a while, and it'll be loads more work. That's not a problem per se, but at the moment, for us, iD tech 3 is enough. We might have a look at iD tech 4 when the time comes. I'm uncertain as to what you're referring to as the 'fun parts', which iD tech 3 shouldn't be able to reproduce. Please explain.

If you have a better forum suggestion, feel free to share :)

Edit: actually, seeing if we can get a forum at lucasforums might be an idea. Although I don't know who to ask..

hhunter6 11-24-2008 11:02 AM

So the MOTS TC has moved to a new forum host. Come on by if you want to see what we are doing.

Thought I'd add some menu stuff

Do note: on some of the screenshots, some old textures are used due to not everything being recreated yet. If the new textures aren't created yet, we resize and use the old textures to see what it looks like, this makes it really easy to replace the texture later on, by just replacing the image. We'll post some new texture work and a few other screenshots of altyr soon(as soon as we have time to make some comparison shots)

hhunter6 05-29-2009 09:23 AM

We have a few updates of our progress. Drop by our
MODDB page and check them out. :)

Kurgan 05-29-2009 04:59 PM

Neat idea! I hope you include a "purple tinted" variation of the Mara Jade
skin. ;)

Tip: If you're going to make this, release a Multiplayer pack at the start,
which will help generate interest while you work on the LOOOONG SP process.

Also, could you turn those giant pics into thumbnails or hot links so we don't have
to scroll horizontally so much? Not all of us are running our displays at 1600x1200, you know!

Forceboat 05-29-2009 09:43 PM

Kurgan, do you mean the purple jacket? Unfortunately, that won't be part of this mod. It was only featured on the box and manual covers anyway, so it won't be a part of this at all. That jacket variation can be downloaded anywhere the Mara model is available anyway.

M@RS 05-29-2009 11:29 PM

Will you have cut scenes in this mod? It'd be nice to have the old dialogue with new cut scenes. :p
