Whats better The Empire or the Rebels

who would rather be the empire or the rebels? so l can prove my friend that there is more people who likes the empire than the rebels :duel:

†Saint_Killa† 03-21-2006 12:34 AM

I fancy the empire more. :D

pbarny 03-21-2006 12:48 AM

I'm an Imperial. Strategy is much simpler, overwhelm and blow it up....

FuzzySmurf 03-21-2006 12:49 AM

four letters.... ATAT....

Admiral Z 03-21-2006 01:22 AM

Empire of course. I always loved the bad guys. They are so cool.

Darth Alec 03-21-2006 05:42 AM

I prefer the Empire, but as is, Rebels are slightly better. It's so depressing......

gswift 03-21-2006 10:31 AM

In space skirmish the Rebels are much better. On land and campaign, the Empire rules the galaxy. In quickmatch those pesky x-wings with lock s-foils are just too fast and they can rush all the resources. I see that as the biggest imballance in the game.

Edit: I guess I should say that maybe it's just my Emperial strategy that's lacking, but I've seen many online players that agree...

DarthMaulUK 03-21-2006 10:58 AM

For me, its very rare to have factions that actually feel different when you play with them. Both the Rebels and Empire have such different styles of play it keeps me coming back to play more.

I like the Rebels for their 'smash and grab' tactics but also the Empire for its total feel of authority and over confidence in such.

To pick out a fav, hmmmm i need more time!

DMUK

mattwild 03-21-2006 12:17 PM

I feel the Rebels are stronger slightly, but however the Empire are much cooler. Just those walkers make you feel completely in charge, whereas you don't get that feeling with a T-4B or airspeeder squadron.

General Solo 03-21-2006 12:23 PM

I think the rebels are because I took on a level 5 space station and 3 star destroyers with only 25 normal ships, including the millenium falcon. So the rebels seem to be better, at times.

Admiral Sith 03-21-2006 12:59 PM

Many players can take out 50+ Corvettes and 33+ Nebs with a couple Vics and Accs. I say Empire, the Rebels victory in the movies was a physical impossibility made possible only by poetic justice.

wuyanxu 03-21-2006 01:22 PM

long live the EMPIRER!!

guess which one i picked.... :P

i chose it because of the simplicity of game play with them, in space, just star destroyers or victory or acc and that's it. whereas for the rebel, you have to balance between Y-wing, X-wing and the Mon cruiser (or assault, depending on money)

the empire's land battles are abit weak, but once you've got the death star, just see how many troops they've got on the surface and if there's alot, just destroy the planet :P
but ATAT's will always be able to take out rebel's medium defence (large defence will lead to planet destruction)
the onlything i like about the rebels is:
-Home One flagship
-Han Solo's ship (fast and when low on shield, turn on inviciblilty and run away)
-the artillary
-Plex soldiers

but the empire can easily counter all of those, so i chose the empire

Commander Obi-Wan 03-21-2006 01:28 PM

Just like DMUK, I need more time to decide. I have played the Rebel Campaign, and I enjoy it quite a bit. And I love the units.

But, I also enjoy the Empire, but I haven't used them as much as the Rebels. Also, they both have their advantages, so.....

jedi3112 03-21-2006 01:30 PM

In the game the Rebels are slightly stronger (and they shouldn't), for real (SW real anyway) the Empire rules the battlefield. Also the Imperials are the good guys and the Rebels are just a bunch of terrorists and pirates. In the game the Empire only has 2 types of StarDestroyers, however for real the Empire has at least 6 types (included the Venator there, not counting the 1&2 version of some). If those were to be included I could dispatch any threath to my Empire

Igor_Cavkov 03-21-2006 05:51 PM

Glory for the Galactic Empire!

Slocket 03-21-2006 09:00 PM

I am sure the Empire is more popular appealing to our instinctual nature, but I find in the gameplay the Rebels kick the Empire's arsche a little bit harder to even the score.

stingerhs 03-22-2006 12:06 AM

All hail the Galactic Empire!!!

Daniel333 03-22-2006 04:02 AM

The Empire never loses!!! there forces are always the best I said so at the top of the page but l want to share some personal likes for the the empire.
-ISD
-patrol cruisers
-The deathstar (of course)
-Victory destroyers
-acclammators
-interdictors (oh yeah always turn on your interdictors if there is transports)
-darth vader
-palpatine
-boba fett
-colinal veers (my best favourite)
and heaps more :vsd:

Cheech Marin 03-22-2006 10:06 AM

If the empire never loses, then why did they lose a little thing called the Galactic Civil War?

Orao 03-22-2006 10:09 AM

Because of George Lucas himslef.

Lol it's just a story by GL. The poll is about how many of us likes which side more than the other.

So what if the Empire lost? I think they're cool. The discipline, the seriousness, just simply my style.

The Death Star 03-22-2006 11:47 AM

Has to be the Empire. I prefer the "Overwhelm the enemy" Idea rather than the "Hit and run" Tactics of the Rebels. Plus The Death Star PWNS.

Ali1392 03-22-2006 11:59 AM

i like the empire i always side with apperetly evil people although my fav ship is the ven

Mmmh ... don't I know your face from somewhere? ... Solo ... Solo - the name seems somehow familiar. Ah - whatever! In any case you are surely mistaken, for the Empire is, of course, superior to the rebels in any case. If you doubt the technical superiority (your doubts probably have been supplied by rebel propaganda ... don't be fooled by those criminals!) - you should at least acknowledge the obvious moral superiority of the empire.
Rebels are scum - dirty criminals who shun the light of the day and prefer to fight in ambushes and sneaky raids instead of honest combat. One imperial tie pilot, confident of his righteous mission and with pride and glory in his heart, can best dozens of enemy fighters (shields on fighters are clearly for cowards!). You should know that the mighty Galactic Empire alone stands between us and anarchic chaos in the galaxy! Rebels make no secret of their dealings with smugglers and actually think that they are brave and clever while most of their attacks consist of hiding bombs somewhere and running away. There is obviously just one way to peace and order in the galaxy! The imperial way!:vsd:
Mmmh ... say - you don't happen to be aquainted with a wookie, do you? ;)

Darth_Extas 03-22-2006 12:18 PM

I am an Empire player and will remain one.

ScorLibran 03-22-2006 01:21 PM

On medium and hard difficulties, unit-for-unit game balance seems to be more in favor of the Rebellion.

But I like a good challenge - and tend to more enjoy playing the underdog - so I more enjoy playing the Empire in this game. Especially pitting Imperial units against their equal-or-superior Alliance counterparts - Victory vs. Assault Frigate, ISD vs. Mon Cal, Accuser vs. Home One, AT-AT vs. Plex Soldiers, Vader vs. Kenobi... :)

In the movies the Empire is certainly not the underdog, but they often are in the balance of this game. Which some folks have agreed doesn't make much sense - but it's the way it is at the moment.

So, "Which side is better in this game?" Most often the Rebellion. "Which side do I like more?" The Empire.

Daniel333 03-22-2006 02:47 PM

Caaran Talme sorry if l got your name wrong but your right they cowards and there pretty dum the empire have to do all the thinking of the weapons and veicles but the rebels just have to wabble up to the tirmminal steal what they want then wabble back to hoth (l blew up hoth on eaw). And pretty much the only veichle that isn' stolen of the empire is corillean corvettes.(l prbably have mistakes)

Daniel333 03-22-2006 02:49 PM

l just notested that l spelt your name wrong sorry

Coraan Talme 03-22-2006 03:22 PM

Oh no problem - I am not an admiral yet, so it's not quite a capital offense ;) Besides you are clearly a loyal subject of the Empire - and we have to stand together against those pesky rebels, Scout Daniel. You are, of course, quite right! Rebels are incapable of constructive thinking or real genius - that's why they have to steal everything valuable from hard-working imperial scientists - or obtain it through their unholy alliance with such untrustworthy critters as wookies or Mon Calamari (Notice how they even SMELL fishy ... no one should trust those big eyed fellows ...).
Only bad luck and treachery have kept them alive for such a long time. It is strange, how many people are ready to believe in the myths rebels like to spread. Like the one about how they won the war. Ha! Such a ridiculous tale - we loyal imperials are still here and will continue to fight for justice till the galaxy is finally at peace again!

P.S.: So you've also seen the beautiful Hoth-asteroid belt? It is indeed one of the galaxy's most remarkable wonders - nearly as pretty as the Yavin-belt or the Polis Massa Rocks. Ah .. that reminds me - we still have to transform Kashyyk into such a marvelous sight. How about the Pelt-belt? I like the sound of that ... :)

General Solo 03-22-2006 07:39 PM

Well when I played I just left the computer on for a few hours, then came back and I had piles of money that would last me throughout the whole entire game, well anyways. When I was the empire at a space battle of course I just creamed everyone, no matter what things they had, my ships were low class but they managed to take out alot of the good ships. So after awhile that empire seem to be better then the rebels. The rebels are pretty cheap though, when you attack them, sometimes they run away and come back, then run away again, like little cowards.

On one mission with chewbacca and han solo where you had to get the plans to the death star or something on a imperial city(forget the name but oh well), that one seems easy for a bit then when you try to get to the shuttle, well I am screwed then. So did you guys come up with anything on how to do it properly, I would figure it out for myself but I am playing the empire right now, I know I shouldn't be asking questions here but, yea.

Empire is the best, Rebels shall burn. he eh

As for your troubles with the Han & Chewie mission on Carida, refer to the most excellent walkthrough DarthMaulUK has posted --> http://www.empireatwar.net/rebels/wa.../mission10.htm

Basically once you have the plans, the strategy is to frikkin' run to the shuttles! Take out the scout speeders that reach you first, then use Han and Chewie's sprint ability to make fast time to the shuttles. The guide will give you the necessary steps to get the timing right to make it out alive. These guys are both tough characters, but won't likely survive head-on combat with everything coming at them after they get the plans. Not on medium or hard game difficulties, anyway.

I recommend these guides for anyone. I used them when I first went through both campaigns, and they helped me get past some tough obstacles without making things too easy and boring. Every mission was still a challenge, but at least I knew what I was doing in each thanks to these walkthroughs.

Slocket 03-23-2006 01:37 AM

I find that changing the retreat time for the rebels to only 5.99 seconds and increase the empires retreat time to 14.99 seconds really does allow for the AI to do hit and run tactics as in lore.

The I find myself really wanting to have that interdictor cruiser around to catch them from fleeing. Try it out on space and land battles, the AI seems to really use it to great affectivness and live to harrass you another day.

guyvii 03-23-2006 10:09 AM

I am an Imp but I know that the low level starting , the Rebs have the edge. If the imp can last to the late phase they are ok. but to get the resources in the beginning of the game the rebs have a big advantange.
In space the x wing speed and ability to win in an xwing vs tie fight for resource points and the speed that the corvettes can move , striking the resourse points are running away ( and this is not even using the speed special effect ).
On the ground , the early tanks with shields just kick everyones butt and they are cheap. and with the plex troopers that can capture land points and protect themselves from armor make them versatale.

conmanguyler 03-23-2006 10:31 AM

i prefer the empire as
i love their heroes, they rule!, but the rebels have that cool ion cannon and those mon cals, those things alone can sway my view, however i prefer to play empire, they are much more organised, spending lots of money and overwhelming the enemy with lots of firepower instead of using cheap hit and run tactics

CG :twogun:

Commander Obi-Wan 03-23-2006 01:52 PM

I've decided....Rebels.

Although, I like the Empire...I think the Rebels are better. I like there vehicles and heroes generally more. And there more effective to use...for me.

General Solo 03-23-2006 05:04 PM

Well i will have to admit that the Rebels do have more fire power and are alot better then the Empire. But what I hated about the Empire is that it took so long to take someone out but when I was the Rebels it was so easy, but oh well.

Oh and thanks for the Walkthrough ScorLibran, really helped, will try it.

Genral O 03-25-2006 12:00 PM

Rebels

Rebels Must Liberate the galaxy! They have cool heros and units! The ion cannon is cool! :x-wing:
