Light or Dark

Which way do you usually play TSL, lightside or darkside? I prefer lightside, but I have passed the game as Darkside male and female a few times to explore all the options.

Arátoeldar 07-21-2006 11:32 AM

My first time through I have to play lightside.

me too. I only play dark side because I want to see all off the game.

pegasus71 07-21-2006 04:46 PM

well Maverick5770 it normal your a lightsider you're canadian!!! lol anyway me too i m lightsider i just take the reply a bit too seriously at the beginning so i don't like hurting virtual peoples feelings

Force Lightning 07-21-2006 05:00 PM

I usually tend to play Darkside, although I am in the process of playing the game on the Lightside.

PoiuyWired 07-21-2006 05:13 PM

I go DS for kotor2.
For kotor1 I play LS all the way, but got the DS ending, cause I have a "change of heart" when I see Bastila, which I think would only be reasonable after all the romance I do with her. It would also make a wonderful tragic story.

Joetheeskimo 07-21-2006 05:45 PM

Sometimes I start off saying, "No matter what, I'm going to beat the game as a Dark-sider." But minutes in I'm so overwhelmed by guilt that I go back to LS. :xp: So, I've always ended up playing KOTOR 1 and 2 as a light-sider, because it's hard to be so freakin' cruel for 15 hours straight of gameplay. :p

(For those who don't know: If you beat the game LS and then again as DS, the third time through extra conversation options will appear with your party members.)

Nancy Allen`` 07-21-2006 05:52 PM

I play through as honestly as I can, ignoring whether my decisions were light or dark side, and at the end I was near as much of a light side as I could get despite some evil decisions (dealing with the scam artist on Dantoine for example).

What, Canadians can't be evil? I consider myself as militant and evil as the next guy, and I happily trumpet my status as a patriotic Canadian. ;P

Seriously, I do both equally, though for the first playthrough I go LS so I get the "good-guy" ending. I feel sorry for those who only play as LS this or DS that. They're missing half the game that way. DS is generally more fun though. I can honestly say I got more belly laughs out of my Darth Obnoxio character than Jedi Master Flanders.

Nancy Allen`` 07-21-2006 07:48 PM

Would a Canadian make two thugs hand over their credits and then force persuade them to commit suicide? I would.

Phantom Joker 07-21-2006 08:09 PM

Lightside. I get plagued by guilt after I off some innocent bystander just because I happened to be in a poopy mood. Yep, I'm a weenie.

Feagildin 07-22-2006 02:51 AM

I like DS for TSL, mainly because of the bonuses you get from HK-47, and Hanharr, as well. The strength and constitution turn your run of the mill Sith Lord into a formidable fighting machine.

reven0123 07-22-2006 06:40 AM

i play lightside i enjoy the game more.

Nancy Allen`` 07-22-2006 06:46 AM

I hear that. Mira is an absolute blast, why choose a hot babe who cracks rude jokes over Chewbacca gone bad? That's part of why I prefer light side, the good guys are more appealing, and I'd rather have a choice of who to fight with as opposed to being stuck with just Canderous (original game if you don't have T3 or HK).

Lantzen 07-23-2006 11:27 AM

You can get Mira as darkside, just stay neutral until you get her, i have done that many times. And i prefer darkside in both game

Jabba da Butt 07-23-2006 12:49 PM

LS. Yes, I am a wimp too. Last playthrough I felt guilty when Atris was yelling at me about peragus and I start going to the lightside just to prove that I wasnt evil lol. :)

Darth SINner 07-23-2006 01:38 PM

i usually play lightside first then darkside second. then if i play a third time i am usually right in the middle.

JediMaster12 07-24-2006 02:34 PM

Lightside all the way but there are times that I would like to say a few grey words. Some of the options are too idealistic.

Diego Varen 07-24-2006 02:41 PM

Lightside for me. I'm better playing Lightside and I prefer Lightside overall.

ALX 07-25-2006 07:25 AM

I only play Light my first couple times through to soak up all the proper story elements and such. Once I play Dark, I find it somewhat difficult to play any other way.

I actually don't have a problem with being Dark; it's quite humorous and wicked fun leaving terror in your wake. The added influence feature is pretty nifty too.. I like trying to draw my entire party into being evil. ;)

o.O I don't know you can do that in kotor1, or at least I haven't noticed it.

But yeah for some reason kotor2 makes me want to play LS more. Maybe I am trying to do things against that old witch just to pisss her off.

For kotor1 though, it sounds nice to go LS, but I can't really see Revan not going with Bastila after the incident. My last planet was Korriban, basically you know your secret, lost your love, and goes razing the darn place just so I can go get her back faster. The mind is still in chaos, and there is no reason not to go with your love when you get a second(and might be only) chance.

Davinq 07-26-2006 12:36 AM

yes same, i'm gonna have to play darkside now... :(

Joetheeskimo 07-26-2006 08:31 AM

Actually, yeah, come to think of it, I prefer DS for KOTOR 1, because it kinda of stinks for the great Sith Lord to become a plain ol' Jedi. But in KOTOR 2, I always play LS because most of my party is LS-aligned (that is, DS responses will lose influence with them), and also everyone looks just plain ugly if they're on the DS. Diseased skin, too much eye-shadow...that sort of thing. Yeah, and you get Mira, of course.

Delta_Folee 07-26-2006 02:40 PM

I played Dark Side for TSL because i like all the force powers like crush and storm. :)

LordJerec 07-26-2006 07:53 PM

I digg to play through it as a Darkside Female... Cause then I know I can use force lightning and stuff, but as an old Master once revealed it's how you use them that caunts... Sorry for my bad english, but I'm from norway and I'm afraid that my English is gettin' rusty this days... I apologise...

Nancy Allen`` 07-26-2006 10:58 PM

Not sure which old master it might be but Luke Skywalker certainly believed this, and practiced what he preached in places such as Jabba's Palace.

Hallucination 07-27-2006 12:14 AM

^Kyle Katarn said it in JA.

I switch it around all the time, but I'm LS most of the time.

Char Ell 07-27-2006 12:33 AM

OK. You got me. I play LS most of the time. What a surprise, eh? :p

I've played DS on KotOR two or three times and have yet to finish my first DSL play-thru on TSL. I don't know why but the DS path on TSL just doesn't seem right to me. I guess especially because my PC has good influence over most of the party and they are all mostly DS aligned but they still berate my PC for making DS decisions. KotOR on the other hand had a DS story that worked quite well.

Maverick5770 07-27-2006 01:09 AM

KOTOR was fun as DS, but I go light because I really like the conversation with Bastila as you battle her and turn her back to the the light through your love and your bond:cry8: Ok enough of that, time to go kill some Sith troops:twogun:

Weiser_Cain 07-27-2006 02:54 AM

I wing it, answering each question honestly and I always come up DS.

Revan435 07-27-2006 03:22 AM

lol this just happened to me i got 2 star maps playing DS in kotor and i deleted like 13 saves. i ve never played as DS. im always LS. i hate it when people call me a"monster" or something. i loss my appettie for the game.

Black Jesus 07-27-2006 07:50 AM

I'm always LS first and foremost.

But then, I'd actually try to be LS in real life if I was a Jedi.

You can still be a LS player with high wisdom and use those powers.

Force Storm, yes. Not Force Crush (unless you cheat).
spoiler:
You get the Force Crush power if your PC is DS after the last visit to Dantooine. You get Force Enlightenment if your PC is LS after the last visit to Dantooine.

Snake55 08-31-2006 10:45 PM

i have played LS once and dint like the story line much so i have stayed with DS since then :darth:

goldberry 09-01-2006 03:44 AM

I play DS in both games, and then at the start of TSL I say: "What the hell? Reven saved the republic!".

Atris was one of the funniest conversations ever.
"Do you realise what you have done?"
"I have destroyed a planet. It was fun."
"You fool. Many planets rely on Peragus for fuel, and you may have doomed them all!"
"Twenty planets with one explosion. Bonus."

/\That was my representation of what was said, those aren't the exact words.

Gavroche 09-01-2006 03:54 AM

Light Side. With lot of CHA because I love Dark Side powers :p ...

I play LS more easily, I don't know why... When I play DS, it's fun five minutes, no more... Killing everybody in one finger splapping, that's annoying in the end. And the storyline is (that's my opinion) more interesting in LS.
...
...
But I like Force Crush :] ...

Joetheeskimo 09-01-2006 07:24 AM

Yeah, and when you and your party are DS, everyone sure is ugly. Kreia doesn't change, though.

Addlcove 09-01-2006 07:56 AM

DS I like being mean
