Slam

Slam is a new canned mutton product available soon on your grocer's shelves. http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/biggrin.gif

No, really...I have a question. When I play X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, I sometimes bump the N key in my cockpit. When I do, my R2 unit flashes a message in my HUD that says, 'Your craft does not have a SLAM system.'

Well, that's nice, vacuum-cleaner boy...even if I don't have one, I would like to know what one is! What is a SLAM? I can find no mention of it in my tech manual...is it a hidden bonus weapon of some kind?

Help me! http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/confused.gif My robot is making stuff up!

The SLAM was some engine-boosting thingamajig from TIE Fighter. Force knows why it's in XvT.

What? It's there? And why the hell is it in XWA too? Did they just put that there to make us all think that for some reason the Missile Boat's SLAM was still available, because I thought it wasn't...or is it?

Hmmm,

I see. So SLAM is an outdated kind of afterburner. Well, God knows those Imp missile boats need 'em. Slow as snail snot in February...

I had pictured a giant hand coming out the side of my ship and SLAMming the enemy into little pieces! http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/biggrin.gif

As far as use goes, SLAMS (standing for Sub-Light Acceleration Motivator System) works a lot like the "Turbos" in Battlestar Galactica. It's used to deliver a sudden burst of speed that allows Gunboats and Gunships to enter and exit a combat area quickly.

I was really ticked when I found out that they didn't carry over the SLAMs from TF. The missile boat was the best out of the lot in terms of sheer firepower and the SLAMs really helped. http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/mad.gif

Anyway, I was done discussing SLAM. Now I'd like to talk cooking. http://www.xwingalliance.com/forums/smile.gif

Has anyone seen the little 'chai tea' blends now available in the stores? Well, I tried a couple kinds, and they tasted horrible! I'm spoiled, though, since I worked in a Punjabi Indian restaurant for awhile, and learned how to make chai masala tea from people who barely speak English. The Punjabi way is delicious, and easy! All you need is a pot, a strainer and the following ingredients:

Black mamri tea
Milk
Sugar
Water
Whole brown and green cardamoms
Fennel seed
'Ajuan' (sp?)

Simply boil two quarts water with two tsp. tea, 7 tsp. sugar, a pinch of fennel seed, a pinch of 'ajuan' (available in Asian markets,) seven freshly crushed green cardamoms and one brown one. After fifteen minutes boiling, add milk to original level and return to boil. Strain into cups and enjoy.
