Grim Fandango Lego?

While wandering on Youtube, I saw Monkey Island movie made by Lego. And I think, this stuff is great, so why can't we use Lego to recreate a Grim Fandango movie? I am pretty good at Lego, but I've never tried to make a stop-motion film before. I hope someone could make Grim Fandango by Lego, then it was very cool. I think it's not really hard....

Any idea?

Du Man 08-12-2007 11:46 AM

can you find the link again on Youtube and post it here?

shadow_judge 08-12-2007 12:30 PM

What do you mean? Nobody did a Grim Fandango Lego, but many people did a Monkey Island Lego theme movie. So I ask everyone to make a Grim Fandango movie... sounds pretty cool, right? I think it's not too hard to do it, but, the only thing is, we have to make a Manny's skull by drawing on a blank white head... maybe?

Sallim 08-12-2007 12:39 PM

maybe its that... wellll wellllll

I watched it... In my opinion, this is pretty sucks. I don't feel the theme of Monkey Island, somehow.

urluckyday 08-12-2007 01:09 PM

Eh, coulda been worse.

shadow_judge 08-12-2007 01:17 PM

Back to the topic, shall we?

urluckyday 08-12-2007 02:33 PM

In a pushy mood today are we?

Sallim 08-12-2007 05:14 PM

shall we...dance?

oh well it doesnt look that bad. A movie in this style would be nice, but its alot of work too.
I would rather like to have have a funny flash movie like this ( maybe very old and already known! )

urluckyday 08-12-2007 05:47 PM

That was pretty good.

Colossal 01-14-2008 09:33 PM

hmmm not a bad idea but I will need dozen of lego skeletons figures

DeadYorick 01-15-2008 12:28 AM

You can just paint over regular lego figures. The problem is you would have to be a very experienced painter to do that. Anyway GF lego would be pretty cool to see

Colossal 01-15-2008 09:50 AM

that's a good idea but what about Manny's head? adding extra brick on the head will look similar but sloppy... any ideas? Any volunteers on getting involved? :)

Du Man 01-15-2008 01:35 PM

put some paper tape round the middle? I bet there's a long white cylinder some where in the lego collection.

Colossal 01-15-2008 01:49 PM

that should do the trick, when I have some free time I'll search for the lost lego box

Colossal 02-26-2008 05:11 PM

can anyone help with something? I cant find frontal shot on Manny's head
for Eva will be a bonus

Sven_Q45 02-26-2008 05:31 PM

Interesting.

But the charakters in GF are still square. :D

ok I drew Manny's head but I have trouble with Eva's head any help will be appreciated

Something which I think would be very impressive would be if someone could recreate some of the scenes/architecture from Grim Fandango. It could be done relatively easy with one of those computer programs for designing lego models (can't remember what they're called...) but would take a lot of patience.

Colossal 03-03-2008 01:41 PM

I started recreating Manny's office couple of days ago :) I hope all will go smooth

urluckyday 03-03-2008 04:18 PM

best of luck...make sure that you post a pic or two of the final product

Off-Topic. Just a little question: Where are you from?

urluckyday 03-03-2008 04:28 PM

^lol, not Germany.

Sven_Q45 03-03-2008 06:00 PM

Yes, i know. ;)
But where? UK, USA, Australia, France? UK, i think... (?)

urluckyday 03-03-2008 06:28 PM

lol, I'm not from the UK, Australia, France...but I'm not saying I'm from anywhere specifically...

Sven_Q45 03-03-2008 06:51 PM

What is special? You live on the earth, like everybody. ;) :D But, where exactly?

urluckyday 03-03-2008 07:03 PM

Do I?

Colossal 03-03-2008 07:55 PM

^One thing is sure - you don't live in lego world :P

urluckyday 03-03-2008 09:11 PM

^Huh? Legoworld? Where did that come from?

Colossal 03-04-2008 02:44 AM

read the topic

urluckyday 03-04-2008 09:45 AM

Oh...well that was just slightly random that's all...

Sven_Q45 03-04-2008 11:27 AM

Legoland is real: Denmark. ;) The home of Lego. :D

Now, where??

Uh, 101 posts. :)

shadow_judge 04-15-2008 01:37 PM

It's a good thing that I've came back for a long time missing, and this topic is still working on. Heh, I suddenly remembered about "Grim Fandango Lego" idea while thinking of buying LEGO Indiana Jones , and then I decided to go back to this forum to check out if there's anything new. Woah, this topic was on the top.

Deja Vu?

OK back to topic:

To tell the truth, I've been playing LEGO for almost 15 years (since I was 2). If only I have enough amount of Lego in my hand, I could remake scenes from Grim Fandango. IMHO, I don't thing that's too hard.

Maybe I'll mess with MLCad... in a distance future :( . Student's life is quite busy you know. And moreover, building a LEGO building is taking pretty long time, not even mention that building it on MLCad is even longer (and eyes-hurting too)

Just made it for one month ago.

any way you can make Manny look less evil? And didn't Manny have stuff on his tables? I know the one on the left had plenty decks of cards on it.

Colossal 05-07-2008 07:01 PM

he is mad because there are no books and deck of cards :P I'm working on that and the books and cards ... that was just a sneak-peak

and here is Manny with normal face

Sallim 05-07-2008 09:18 PM

haha I love this, looks promising!

Du Man 05-07-2008 10:20 PM

if lego had made a line for GF, that would have been sooooo awesome...

What are you going to do for Reaper Manny? Used lego darth vader's stuff?

Colossal 05-08-2008 07:11 AM

Actully there can be lego GF, on lego.com there are fan creations that can be bought by anyone, but the lego company needs to aprove the design in order to put it in production
