Who likes Kyle Katarn?
After a lot of thinking and playing I have to say, Kyle Katarn is one of the coolest characters in the New Rupublic Era, don't know why I think he is sooo cool all of a sudden but he is uber-awesome!!!! What do you think?
|
Eh, he's funny at points, he's got an interesting story, he's got a whole series dedicated to him, he's not bad, but LA really should change his clothing once in awhile

I liked how kyle looked in df2 but he is the best character i ever known.

Kyle's not the standard 'absolute selfless, unemotional, predictable' characters. I like his personality much more than almost every other jedi. It's great how he laughs and brags while fighting for his life... at least with Jaden.

katarn is defenetly one of my favorite charicters along with toddler jason solo

I love Kyle Katarn. the guy is tough, and he's funny. plus he always manages to kill whatever sith crosses his path

I liked Kyle the most when he was just an ex-imperial soldier with no force power stuff at all. I thought that Dark Forces gave a look into Star Wars that was more visceral and more "real" than the later games. You were just a merc going on missions for the Rebel military. There were no force powers (magic), just you and your guns and the bad guys.
This is a portrayal of events that do happen in the SW universe, but it isn't portrayed much because the force-bearers are the "cool" bunch. In fact, it's only something you really see in the most original Star Wars game era in the early to mid '90s (IMO). Well, I suppose I'm ignoring Republic Commando but I didn't really think that game was super great. For one, it's not my favorite Star Wars era and it kinda didn't feel Star Wars enough to me as a result. It was decent though. I wish we'd seen Imperial Commando. LucasArts went down the tubes as a company and dropped it apparently. |
If you have a PSP, you should check out Lethal Alliance.

heheheh, good point, watch out for those well hidden weapons of his. I really like him too, he adds such a nice flavor and feel to the games and my favorite banter of his is..of course....
Sith Spit! :) |

Kyle all the way!
As long as he changes his shirt to avoid the black arm pit patches. I've never seen a shirt like that with arm pit patches. |
Quote:
In Kyles case I think he just really likes that shirt. I think the arm pit patches are actually leather sewn into there. Maybe to avoid stains in that area? Kyle does run around and swing his arms quite a lot during the games |
I'm not sure which would look worse: the arm pit patches or arm pit stains?
Just get a dark shirt already Kyle! Oh wait, in my game he does. |
I like Kyle Katarn. He is my favorite Star Wars character outside the movies.
Yes Republic Commando was a huge step down from JO and JA. I still enjoy playing JO and JA today as much as I do the latest games on the Xbox 360. |

I think hes a good character he should make a return in a future game I know his last apperance was in Empire at War but it would be awesome to see him come out of retirement and be a Jedi again possibly in a future Jedi Knight if they did do one. I think it would interesting to see his days when he worked for the Empire as an Imperial agent if I'm correct about that?
|
I Do
In my opinion, I think the character's supposed to represent the casual "Star Wars" fan -- they go to the movies
for the FX but don't cosplay or whatever. lol That is to say: they're into the Force but not that into it -- there're doubts. :) |
he's awsome! i loved him in JKII.
|
He´s the best
|
He's a bad azz mofo that's for sure. If Han Solo was a Jedi, he'd be like Kyle Katarn.

I can respect him b/c he was a work a day regular joe before he was jedi. Plus he has a much more badassery persona than Luke.
|
Edgy ain't a bad quality in a jedi.
|
A better question would be "Who doesn't like Kyle?". :xp:
|
Kyle was an exceptional SW character. Now, where the F*** is the next installment (fix) of Jedi Knight?
|
I concur... where is the next installment, on the PC...
A few "Jedi" games have come out lately, "Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" and "Force Unleashed," but neither were part of the series, and both were console only. Both had scant multiplayer options. |

Any who don't like Kyle likely wouldn't be playing JK, JK II, and JA; let alone coming here and commenting, would they?
I do agree about the weapons he has stashed and think there should only have been so many he could take at a time. Liked the way they also had great quantities of ammo you pick up from certain weapons that got lost with later games. I hate how you've got some guy firing at you with a concussion rifle and you pick up four shot's worth when you used to get 25 in the first installment. 15 shots for stormtrooper rifle, 30 imperial rifle, 50 fusion cutter, 30 assault cannon were great. 20 energy for disruptor (that's less than one full shot while they're firing at you without limit) 20 bolts for imperial repeater. 50 bolts per shot for concussion rifle... All this I can imagine Kyle carrying at once, so he's great... these numbers are not. |
Not true. I'm not particularly fond of Kyle, because I only played Outcast & Academy and never Dark Forces.
But I'd love another JK-series game. _EW_ |
