E3 '08=confirmations or not?

So E3 is taking place this week and no word on K3 or any relation to it. All we've heard from LA so far is TFU stuff.

Do you guys think that maybe they'll put rumors to rest or what? Or was this covered in the press conference cuz I missed that.

I personally think K3 will not be covered at all this year. That MMO everyone is talking about might not be revealed or whatever until mid-next year or so.

Tell me what you guys think...

Rev7 07-17-2008 01:50 AM

I am pretty sure that there has not been any comfirmations, so far that is. I do have a feeling that there will be no announcements this year. All the Star Wars hype is with The Force Unleashed.

Sharen Thrawn 07-17-2008 09:46 AM

According to Game Trailers (http://www.gametrailers.com/e3_calen...16278000&ap=am) BioWare will be debuting a "new game" today, at 10am PT (which is in 3 hours). I don't think this new game is Dragon Age since it was already shown at E3 and we have trailers and gameplay videos. Most likely, it'll be Mass Effect 2, though chances are it may be (KO)TOR MMO. We will see in 3 hours.

Taos 07-17-2008 10:49 AM

I will be very interested in what is said by Bioware in a few hours.

Astor 07-17-2008 10:53 AM

It'll be Mass Effect 2. I think that it'd be incredibly difficult keeping a K3 secret - given the amount of rumor mongering and hype that already surrounds something that, as far as we know, will never happen.

It could be this supposed new 'MMO' that theyre apparently working on, but I have a feeling it's going to be Mass Effect 2.

But, if it is the fabled KOTOR3, then they should win an award for keeping it quiet this long.

zemegauser 07-17-2008 11:06 AM

Just watch them reveal that they have actually finished KOTOR 3, and will be releasing it next week!

Yea, that won't happen. (But it can still happen in my dreams )

Soogz 07-17-2008 01:14 PM

I feel like all of the good games that we hope for aren't announced until after E3. So if there is Kotor 3, they won't announce it for a few weeks or months. That's just what I think...

RyuuKage 07-17-2008 02:00 PM

so, does anybody know what they announced? i can't find anything yet...

zemegauser 07-17-2008 02:11 PM

It's one hour after, where is all the people flocking to these threads to discuss KOTOR 3? :(

I don't know what they announced either.

Sharen Thrawn 07-17-2008 02:30 PM

I can't find any video from the BioWare's game debut on GemaTrailers.com (wonder if it actually happened) BUT. I got sth very interesting:

Quote:

EA to Play in Knights of the Old Republic

N. Evan Van Zelfden in Los Angeles warns, watch out World of Warcraft. In an interview at E3 this week, Electronic Arts chief executive John Riccitiello said that EA is working on the next version of Star Wars game Knights of the Old Republic, and it will most certainly have a massively multiplayer online component to it.

"We've got two of the most compelling MMOs in the industry in development," said Riccitiello. The first title, based on the Warhammer property, will launch soon. "And the one that people are dying for us to talk to them about -- in partnership with Lucas, coming out of BioWare, which is, I think, quite possibly the most anticipated game, full stop, for the industry at the point when we get closer to telling you about it."

Does Riccitiello mean the oft rumored Knights of the Old Republic Online? "Yes," he said.

So. Has John Riccitiello just confirmed (KO)TOR MMO?

:( , I guess that's it. No more KOTOR 3 for me. :(

Not really into the pay every month thing, but if it goes guild wars style, then I might get it.

Nedak 07-17-2008 02:42 PM

It's not on the Bioware website however...

linxx_ 07-17-2008 02:47 PM

yeah...well if it IS true, then i guess no more KOTOR heading my way either... if you ask me, making a KOTOR MMO is a bad idea, i think its a downgrade to the experience, story wise. There wont be that old KOTOR feel and charm, like in the other 2 games..Now its gonna be grind grind grind grind, like every MMO out there... and if its like WoW and such, a KOTOR game with no ending=lame, and the whole KOTOR name will have been destroyed for me.

Oh well, theres always TFU and TSLRP

I agree. They obviously did this for the money, seeing WoW and It's success, they thought it would be better. They might do something like Galaxies, where they continue the story but in Chapters you take part in, and they last like 3 months each. I truly do not know.

Jolly Boots 07-17-2008 03:03 PM

Hold on, hold on.

EA is working on the next version of Star Wars game Knights of the Old Republic, and it will most certainly have a massively multiplayer online component to it.

This translates to me as "K3 AND it will have a multiplayer component" not that it's exclusively multiplayer. Seems like both. Which is feasible. Or it's just me being hopeful.

Age on Conan style anyone??? Hope is restoring!!

Astor 07-17-2008 03:05 PM

Just remember guys, that while EA owns Bioware, that statement above might not have anything to do with them.

As far as I know, Bioware still operates indepently, so they could still have a SW related announcement. (doubtful, but theres always a chance)

if that's true, then kotor just crashed and burned. just like linxx said, it'll just be endless grinding, pointless disjointed questing, no storyline, no character development...nothing...

BUT! if it's true, there is still a glimmer of hope. Notice he said mmo COMPONENT. Could this mean it's like the Neverwinter Nights series, where it has a full-fledged single player campaign, but also an online multiplayer?

Ahem...my post. Age of conan style.

In age of conan, the first 20 levels were a singleplayer game, then you could go out to multiplayer.

That, and any videos from the BioWare's game debut on E3 are nowhere to be found. I mean like WTH? Just officially announce it. Everyone know already anyway.

we posted at the same time, i didn't see it XD

Though i think NWN's method sounds better than AOC....

God what if they announce Kotor 3, I might just faint.:lol:

Oh and Ryuu, the 20 levels are a fully fledged story.

i know, it just sounds like you have to beat that to unlock multiplayer? i dunno if that's how it works, i've never played Age of Conan. In NWN you can do whichever you want from the get-go.

They want to piss us off so we loose hope and then try to re-surprise us.:xp:

linxx_ 07-17-2008 03:22 PM

Well if its like AoC or NWN (ive played neither) then "hope is restored"... as long as theres character and story progression in a single player game, just like the other K's, then good :) I just think that KOTOR 1 and 2 being SO great as they are, I'd hate to see that style of gameplay die. Guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Noo I have to start a huge internet search again...Sigh, to g4 first.
Praying Ill find it with a Kotor 3 announcement.

zemegauser 07-17-2008 03:29 PM

WTH is going on. It is 12, and no announcement. I thought the times were supposed to be exact?

I mean microsoft did theirs, Rock Band did theirs, but Bioware just...did nothing.

And it's not like this came from an unreliable source, it's coming from gametrailers.

RyuuKage 07-17-2008 03:30 PM

I've been watching Gamespot's E3 Live Feed since about 10:12 and haven't seen anything involving Bioware at all...checking blog updates and stuff and nothing there either :(

zemegauser 07-17-2008 03:38 PM

This is making me so frustrated, I can't even play any games right now. I go in the game, play 2 minutes, and check back on this thread. AHHHHH! SHOW ME THE ANNOUNCEMENT ALREADY BIOWARE!!

HK-42 07-17-2008 03:40 PM

maybe the announcement is secret like they said turn off all cams, if so well have to wait for a leak...

Rathoris 07-17-2008 03:43 PM

can be please stop being biased towards mmo's. Yes they suck, however this is BIOWARE making one. Give it a chance, you can't just burn it without knowing anything about it whatsoever.... geez... :xp:

I don't burn it because it's an MMO, there are several ones worth buying (Guild Wars comes to mind). I burn because it's a KOTOR mmo. We want the story finished, which won't happen with a straight up mmo.

However, if that EA guy's statement is any indication, it might very well be a two-in-one actual RPG with an mmo component. So we can finish the story of KotOR, and have an mmo in the era. That's fine. Just mmo? Very much NOT fine...

zemegauser 07-17-2008 03:48 PM

What channel, I have G4 but right now its showing Cheat!. No E3 footage.

Watch out World of Warcraft? No one seems to want to play a KotOR MMO (from all the complaining I've seen)...people would buy it if it had the SPRPG component definately...but how would the MMO part rival WoW?

A KOTOR MMO just sounds like a bunch of jedi walking around and fighting each other till it gets boring, to me at least... so I dont know how it would rival WoW, I guess it wouldnt, WoW is too well founded and established already.

gm5k 07-17-2008 04:11 PM

i feel like if Bioware does make it an MMO, they'll find a way to make it work. id rather they didn't make it an MMO, but i have faith in them. they're just too innovative and intelligent of a company to put out a garbage version of KOTOR.
