Compose the LucasCast Jingle - Competition

To celebrate the launch of LucasCast, we are holding a competition. We are giving you the chance to compose the LucasCast Jingle, that will be heard at the beginning and end of each podcast. The winner will recieve a unique badge, that only they will have, and noone else.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...scasttheme.gif

Rules:

1. We need an Intro & Outro, each must be approximately 10 - 15 seconds long.
2. It cannot contain any copyrighted material whatsoever. It must be completely original.
3. Jingle must be submitted in .mp3 format. (Save a copy of the original .wav file. We'll be needing it if you win.)

Post your entries in this thread. The competition closes Sunday 8th March, and the staff of LucasCast will decide the winner.

So get composing, and Good Luck!

I'll jump on Garage Band this week and see what I can come up with.

jrrtoken 02-23-2009 08:17 AM

Any ideas on what sort of jingle we're going for? Like, super epic glam metal keytar riff, or awesome cinematic chorus?

Darth Groovy 02-23-2009 09:42 AM

Truth is, we are not really going to know until we hear it.

Anything really, doesn't matter what style, so long as it's fun and catchy.

ohh ohh, keytar, keytar, i vote for a keytar jingle!

jrrtoken 02-23-2009 03:36 PM

Is there any way that the public in general can vote, instead of being a staff-only thing?

Nedak 02-23-2009 03:37 PM

I'll try to work on one asap

Certainly post comments on ones you like the best once we get the submissions, but I think we will choose the one we think fits with the show the best and take your comments into consideration.

Time to put my skills to work!

Lynk Former 02-23-2009 04:02 PM

I personally can't wait to hear what everyone will come up with :D

RoxStar 02-23-2009 06:08 PM

How many entries do we get? Do you want a separate outro? EDIT: Can't read, sorry!

If you would like something more contemporary, give me a shout!

hmmm, am quite busy these days but might give it a whirl...I'll need the fiancee's help though she's amazing with stuff like that.

Nedak 02-24-2009 09:37 PM

Alright I made a possible intro. I'll create some more within the next coming days.

If you experience any audio problems or have any ideas please let me know.

It's better than nothing I guess :D

I also uploaded it on newgrounds because I didn't know where else to upload it :p

EDIT: Finished outro. I've been really busy and have been having writers block, so it's probably not the best in the world. I'll change whatever you want on it, make it shorter, longer, add stuff, etc.

NOTE: Also, I made all jingles using FL studios and Adobe Audition for editing.

That's actually wicked cool! I love it!

Darth Groovy 02-25-2009 02:38 AM

Also Nedak, if you like, I used AudioStreet to put up some tracks from old bands I been in over the years. It's free, and really easy to set up.

Nedak 02-25-2009 01:17 PM

Awesome, thanks!

I'll make an account and use it for the outro and any other jingles I make.

Darth Groovy 02-27-2009 08:21 AM

Not to be a jack ass, but is this all of the entries? Nobody has posted in this thread for like 2 days.

We record LucasCast Episode #2 this Sunday.

Would be REALLY NICE to have a jingle ready by then...

Thanks again,

Grooveh

EnderWiggin 02-27-2009 08:57 AM

Well, I was told that they would be coming out ~every 2 weeks.

That, coupled with the fact that the contest ends 8 March, indicated to me that I had some time if I wanted to put something together, especially because I'm rather busy this weekend.

I'm actually not sure how you could choose a winning jingle before the contest ends

Perhaps others thought that same as I did.

Relax Groov, you're forgetting about the wonders of editing. The next episode won't be released until March 9... which means we'll have plenty of time to edit in the winning theme.

Sure we won't be able to mention the winner on the ep2 podcast, but we will still be able to mention it here on the forum and of course congratulate them on ep3.

May seem a little odd, but eh, what can ya do.

TBH, I can't think of anything awesomely great that will fit in the cast. Call it musician's block, if you will.

Nedak 02-27-2009 08:02 PM

^
I was thinking that they after the "intro" they would just kind of lead it in with some simple music. A lot of radio stations do that and it seems to work great with podcasts.

Hope that helps a little? haha

Oh I am well aware of the "editing" process! (lol...Niner) I just wanted to stoke the coals a bit, and I am also anxious to hear some other entries. We got a boat load of Talent here on LF! I'm the kind of guy that likes to tell everyone to show up at 9, for the Ten o'clock meeting. Know what I'm saying? ;)

TiE23 02-27-2009 09:48 PM

I tried composing something... but making a jingle is ****ing hard. Blarg.

LordOfTheFish 02-27-2009 10:24 PM

I'd make one, If I knew how.

I think that is a important requirement:D

LordOfTheFish 02-27-2009 10:53 PM

Probably.

Is there a simple program you can use to make one? Or does it take more than that?

Sabretooth 02-28-2009 01:04 AM

Let's see:

Musical Talent
Musical Instrument(s)
Recording Equipment
Sound Editing Software (Optional)
Studio (Optional)

Rinku 02-28-2009 04:28 PM

Been a while since I got on...Well you wont see me for a while again since I will be working on this

Cool; now it just needs some random rockstar wannabe screaming "LucasCast!" :sing9:

igyman 03-01-2009 12:25 PM

Well, here's my attempt:

Intro

Outro

Pretty simple, I know, but the best I could do with my skills.

leXX 03-01-2009 03:25 PM

All of the entries are great so far guys. I can see this is going to be very hard to judge. Keep them coming. :)
