What did you think of the first LucasCast?

Thanks to everyone who listened! :)

EnderWiggin 03-03-2009 08:01 AM

As I've said, I really enjoyed it.

Litofsky 03-03-2009 09:55 AM

As did I. It's a neat addition to the community in general (plus it was great to finally meet the staff! :xp:), and I will definitely catch the later additions.

Bokken 03-03-2009 12:37 PM

I really liked it, too. I'll be watching the later additions, too. :p

M@RS 03-03-2009 01:25 PM

I liked it... :)

LordOfTheFish 03-03-2009 10:18 PM

I thought it was great. All of your different accents really helped distinguish who was who.

Nedak 03-03-2009 11:14 PM

I lubed it.

GeneralPloKoon 03-04-2009 12:10 AM

It was great!

Rev7 03-04-2009 01:25 AM

I thought that it was great, actually

Ok I'm sorry, I know you meant lub as in a cutesy way to say loved, but lubed is a word, and that is just wrong...

Yeah, that's kind of how I read it, too...it scared me until the fourth time I read it.

Kj°len 03-04-2009 07:12 PM

I'll admit. I lubed it.

I would just like you all to know that whoever votes 'It sucked' will be summarily banned.

;)

QF T & E.

I don't know if I necessarily qualify as professional in a DJ sense, and I am probably amateur at best for directing (highschool AV producitons)...However, it seemed like the format was a bit aimless. Like you were trying to make it like a radio talkshow usually on in the mornings on rock/metal stations except...even there you seem to all speak over each other.

Do you follow an agenda for the show--a structure? I realize that is hard to do in an absolute sense... just something to consider in general I guess.

I will not judge your talents since I am the kind of person such that it would not be accurate to judge me by your first impression only. However, I am scratching my head as to whether or not your (you as in the crew, there) bringing up threads won't degrade into a bit of bashing and slamming. Now if you are going to talk about the more serious points and discuss those...fine. I'll listen to that...to a point.

You don't come across as sarcastic enough to satire things in a way that would make people laugh. So since that was the first one and you have already telecast what you intend to do...I will reserve judgment on this. If you have improvisational skills and think fast on your feet, that is a plus here.

Personally I found it hard to stay with: you were all just kind of talking. Then again it is an acquired taste for each one...so expect my critiques to change to a certain point with each passing podcast.

All in all, hey, it's as start.

It's a bit different from radio talk shows because we're not all in the same room when the recording is going on. Radio shows seem more streamlined with regards to people talking, but that's because they can give each other visual cues as to when they're able to talk. In a podcast, this isn't exactly possible, especially since all our participants live across the globe. It's something we're working on and we hope with time we'll get better at it.

We do, actually. Groovy is our ringmaster and he helps guide the topics we talk about. Sometimes we'll go off tangent on certain topics, but we think that's okay because it keeps the discussion organic.

If you'd like to see the generalized topic list, there will always be a thread accompanying the podcast which outlines what we talked about. (Here's the one for Episode 1, you can view all the details in the spoiler tab)

If we bring up threads on the forums, it will always be in a positive light. We're not using the podcast as a pulpit to bash people, because that's not the point of the cast.

And as for discussing serious points, yeah we can do that sometimes, but for the most part we like to keep things light. No one is going to want to listen to something that's srs bsns all the time, after all we're not talk radio or the news.

Satire and sarcasm were not necessarily what we were trying to convey in the first episode, nor are they our defined objective whenever we record a podcast. We're just there to talk about video games. We're all friends, so it's easy for us to laugh at and with each other.

People talking is kind of the point of a podcast. ;)

As I said, there's always going to be a thread to accompany each cast that gives you an outline of what we talked about. So if you're really finding it hard to keep up with us, just look there.

Thanks for the feedback!

*looks around* Since when did I sign up to become a professional radio announcer?

Jae Onasi 03-10-2009 02:30 AM

I want to be Paulette Harvey, pauses and all. ;P

Well, even then they have their segment. My appologies if I am making a apples 2 oranges comparison.

True enough...How about comedy in a more...generalized...sense?

I prefer not to force comedy... when the funny hits, it just hits.
