Spaced-out Artwork

Welcome to my art thread. Here I would like for you to post any and all spaced themed art that you have made. This thread can also be used to discuss things about the art posted here. When I say spaced theme, I mean actual space. Not something out of a sci-fi movie. Here are some examples:

This is the kind of art to post. Please use hidden tags to save space.
I might also add that I made these myself.

Canderis 06-16-2009 05:36 PM

Pretty cool! You made those?

Demongo 06-17-2009 01:00 PM

They are nice indeed!:thmbup1:

Trench 06-18-2009 04:05 AM

Alkonium 06-18-2009 09:15 AM

None of your pictures have worked so far.

Canderis 06-18-2009 11:38 AM

They all work for me. That Galaxy looks sweet!

Trench 06-18-2009 12:13 PM

Alkonium: If they aren't working here, check them out in my album here.

Canderis: Thanks bro. I'm thinking about doing a supernova next.

DarthJacen 06-18-2009 01:26 PM

Very well done! I would have used actual images from space, but these artistic versions are very accurate. You must be very proud!

Trench 06-18-2009 01:27 PM

Thanks DarthJacen.
I have finished my Supernova:

Demongo 06-18-2009 01:29 PM

Wow it looks nice! Great job!

Trench 06-18-2009 01:30 PM

Thanks ner'vod. Any ideas for what I could do next? Other people are welcome to post theirs as well.

Demongo 06-18-2009 04:41 PM

Well I don't know if it's too hard or anything but it would be cool to see a planet explode:D

Trench 06-18-2009 04:47 PM

I could try that...
Meanwhile, I've got another one:

Hey dude nice pics, you might wanna consider exploring with the options a bit.
From what i can see. You're definitely using Gimp 2.0, am I right?
You used the following methods..

"Light and shadows" = Nova preset...
"Artistic" = cartoon-ify settings...
"Static"...

Trench 06-19-2009 02:48 PM

Thanks for the tip bro. I also tried some other options. Here is an oil painting render of the nebula

Well, this isn't the best you have done, but still good:)

Quanon 06-19-2009 03:09 PM

If you enjoy creating space scénes, you might enjoy this link:
CLICKY

Its more geared towards realistic scenes though, but it should be easy to take more artistic approach.

Complements on finding those filters, on certain images its a bit to obvious.
But thats just minor critics :p

Another linky about making planets:

Awaiting new stuff :)

Found an old image I made myself:

Thanks for the links Quanon. I'll see what I can do with those tutorials. Until then...

Wow, that's nice but what is that?:raise:

Trench 06-21-2009 11:10 AM

A black hole sucking in a star. This render is made to be more realistic.

Trench 06-21-2009 02:38 PM

Thanks bro.

Strange........but interesting. Nice job:)

DarthJacen 06-21-2009 09:21 PM

Art doesn't have to make sense, which is why I don't do it.

Ulmont 06-21-2009 10:11 PM

Here's a planet I just made using my new-and-improved CS4. (Sorry about the weird half-blurred low-rez planet. I challenged myself to make EVERYTHING using a single tool.)

Trench 06-21-2009 10:15 PM

Ulmont, that is awesome! I wish I had Photoshop.

Ulmont 06-21-2009 10:43 PM

Thanks. I recommend CS3 or CS4 if you do get it. They're awesome. ;)

Trench 06-21-2009 10:45 PM

I wish I could get it. At this point its too expensive though. I'm happy with GIMP for the time being though.

Kyr'am Galaar 06-21-2009 10:52 PM

you could get a free trial. 30 days.

Trench 06-21-2009 10:54 PM

That would be fun, but I might keel over when the trial ends.

Kyr'am Galaar 06-21-2009 10:59 PM

I'm actually using the free trial version of CS2 for my mods.

Ulmont 06-21-2009 11:32 PM

Yeah, I suggest you get the Trial. And I think if you reset your clock date on your computer you can still use it. (I think, 'cause I only did that once, and for a really old program.)

Trench 06-21-2009 11:34 PM

Are you suggesting I cheat the system Ulmont?:cop:....

Kyr'am Galaar 06-22-2009 12:09 AM

Just a sun.

Trench 06-22-2009 12:11 AM

Sweet render payback! That isn't "just a sun", that is art!

Demongo 06-22-2009 08:53 AM

Great job! That sun looks realistic to me:D

Ulmont 06-22-2009 02:22 PM

Did you use the Render - Clouds thingimagigger? For the Base Tex? (That's what I used for the planet. And stars. And Nebula-what-ca-ma-callit in the background of mine.)

Kyr'am Galaar 06-22-2009 04:59 PM

Yes, I used the Difference Clouds Render.

Kyr'am Galaar 06-22-2009 05:18 PM

I don't know what the heck I just made, but it was supposed to be a Star Explosion. or something like that.
