Models and Gameplay.

Another question from me. Is it possible to download certain models seperately, or use them as a basis? I love what you guys did with the perspective of the weapons on people. You see them as if you're holding them to your face, and not your hip. Unfortunately, the 3rd person models don't really portray that.

Will the stances on the third person models eventually be fixed? That, and can these models be downloaded seperately from the mod to use as a basis for other weapons and characters? I'm going to start development on my own "Remainder" mod which is based around The fiction I've written, but since the main character of the story is a trained weapon's user. He probably doesn't hold his weapons at the hip.

So, is this being worked on? And can certain files be put up for download? And is the JK2 mod using the stuff from The Dark Forces mod? It'd be a shame if they didn't, if you ask me. There's no higher quality models then the ones used here.

Also, is it possible to set all the weapons in the 1st person mode higher up? Or does it require a new weapon? Has anybody considered using the sniping mode stance on the tenloss disruptor for the corrected rifle/carbine stance?

Also, can particular weapon models, or weapons be assigned to a particular player skin? The character in my fiction which I am trying to start development on aquires a DE-10 as a unique weapon that not many actually have. Yet in Jedi Academy, EVERYBODY has a damn DL-44. Except for the Imperial Officer in Outcast. He's got a unique pistol, so I assume it's possible.

And one final question regarding gameplay. Will enemies like stormies die in a single shot to the face? I'm sorry, but I just find it amazingly hard to believe that a stormtrooper, or a completely unshielded opponent like imperial officers can withstand a Bryar Pistol shot to the face. If The Bryar Pistol can shoot an arm off of 8T88, then it can probably zonk a stormtrooper, or anybody else in a single shot to the face.

Just asking if that will be improved. Sorry if it's too many questions.

That would require new animations. I have no idea if they can put new animations into single player, but if they can, you would probably need to use the animating program wudan wrote called dragon. His site has some stuff about it I believe, http://mt-wudan.com/.

Otherwise, you could look around or search the JA Modeling forums here, they might have some info too.

I wonder why Single player is so un-modifiable... It doesn't really make much sense if you ask me. Isn't it basically as simple as replacing a few meshes here and there? I guess not...

Damn. Also, what's with JK3 files right now? Server issues out the wazoo. Any other sites to download JK3 stuff from?

Hey, "General" Jaxun (I read about you mod idea over at Filefront; sounds intriguing!). To answer your questions:
No, the weapon models in the Dark Forces mod are not available as separate downloads. You can ask DarkStarMojo for permission to use them in your mod, providing he will let you. Wouldn't hurt to ask. As far as new animations for the Dark Forces mod proper, I am not sure if DSM has assigned anyone to make new weapon animations or not, and no, there's no particular files that can be put up for that stuff, unfortunately. I guess no thought has been put into doing any for it, simply because you played in First Person only in the original game and you couldn't really see any animations anyway. Now, if DSM wants to think about doing new animations for the mod, great. If not, to me it won't make or break the mod, because it will be great regardless. About using the weapon models in the Dark Forces II mod, some might be while others won't be. I remember reading about and seeing somewhere a render of a new Bryar Pistol that is being made, so that means that one is new. The others, I don't know. Regarding the First Person weapon models, I'm not sure if they will be remodeled and position adjusted, unless DSM is unhappy with them and think they could be done better. As regards to assigning certain weapons to playermodels upon startup of a map, yes you can. When you write an Icarus script, you can assign as many weapons for your player as you want using the SET_WEAPON command. And you can always replace the DL-44 with the DE-10 as a replacement. I can't remember at the moment, but I think it was already set to, I am not sure. Regarding number of shots to take down an enemy, you could open the npc files with Notepad and edit the health down to 1 if you want an instant kill (not as challenging or fun, but if that's what you like, it is possible). Yes, new animations ARE possible. Jedi Knight Files has lots of new lightsaber stance and other types of animation files that you can download to change the look of how a weapon is held, etc. One of my favorite stance mods is one entitled JKA Stances Version 1.5. It might seem like a strange stance mod (you hold the blaster pistol straight up in the air), but it is good for the blaster holding animation and the new saber style animations. Another mod I am thinking of that just came out recently over there is one that changed the animation for Force Grip, among others. It's this one: JamyzGenius First Choice Animations
And Jedi Knight Files is back up now. :)

I hope this all helps and answers most of your questions. Any other questions you may have, don't hesitate to ask. :)

Thanks for the reply, Forceboat.

I wrote a reply ealier... Apparantly, it didn't register... I'll edit this later for a full one, though I really appreciate it!
