Menu items are all invisible
 

From the excellant advice around managed to get gf running on windows 7 64 bit with an nvidia card and thought the troubles were behind me.

But, when I press f1, the game pauses, I get the little grim fandango logo but nothing else. I can scroll through menu options and select things, I have even managed to see some sliders. But without text what any of this does is confusing. And I can't save my game :(

any suggestions?
