Favorite Winter Sports
 

Well, since much of the US is getting hammered by snow this week (we're anticipating up to 14 in/35cm of snow at our home with the storm that starts tonight), I thought I'd ask you all what your favorite winter activity is.

Share your favorites, you may choose more than one.

Skiing, although it is a little difficult to do it on the Texas Gulf Coast (snow skiing that is, with a wet suit you can pretty much water ski year round).

I voted Other - Surfing, waves are bigger in the winter.

downhill/cross country skiing, hockey and of course, writing my name in the snow. :)

Hibernation.

Horse riding. It's freezing (and dangerous, from time to time), but the landscape is so beatiful and tranquil it's worth it just for that.

Throwing snowballs. Dogs tend to react rather... playfully. :p

I hibernate.

CURLING!

The USA Woman's Olympic team curls the same place I do. I often see them on the Ice practicing and was even able to curl in the same team as Debbie McCormicks 2nd, Nicole last season.

I just like to know who are the other curlers around here

I used to love downhill skiing but burnt out on it. Tahoe Basin holds fond memories of snowsporting for me. Tried snowboarding and wanted to pursue but I was so burnt out on skiing.

Corss country was never a thing of mine, but I can appreciate it.

Snowshoeing is similar but it seemed to have a little more traction with me.

Snowmobiling when I could afford to go on a tour. (No way I could afford one of those beasts of my own.)

Snowballs and other projectiles are sitll a favorite. :p

My dog loves to attack the snow I shovel.

Jumping off a roof into powder snow and trying out my gymnastics which have deteriorated over the past 13 years. I can't even do a back flip or a front flip anymore. So it's just pretending I'm Mick Foley, snow permitting.

Otherwise it's snow removal for $$$. And hibernation.

I used to do all kinds of stuff, now I hibernate.

i'm a professional snuggler

I like to throw snowballs at people. I also build snowmen so I can shoot them with paintballs. :devsmoke:

I like riding bareback in the winter cause my horse keeps my ass warm :)

Darn sunny weather out here in CA! I need $$$ and I need it now!

I used to love what I called "speed skating" back when I lived in good ol' Minnesota...

Being Canadian I think you all know what my answer is...

I hibernate. Can't stand the cold, I always get frostbite on hands and toes. Go Global Warming!

Figure skating?

I voted Other/Yoda: My group always goes jumping on frozen streams and small ponds until someone falls in.

Playing video games becuz I hate outside

Well, even though we got our first snow of the year last Friday night, normally my town (being on the east coast and myself only living 10mins from the beach) doesn't see very much cold weather. I've worn tee-shirts and shorts on Christmas day before.

So I voted hibernate because technically I do that year round.

Sad - I'm trying to avoid having my children become that way!

We really don't get much snow in Texas, but with the past storm I spent a lot of time throwing snowballs and sledding. We also built a snowman, and I did write my name in the snow (in cursive, even dotted the "i").

I'm eminently disappointed that the Johnson sisters aren't on the team this year. They were pretty much the only reason I watched curling. ;x

Shuffleice is not a sport.

It makes me believe that booger-flicking actually has a chance at becoming an official Olympic event.

I just haven't mastered that skill yet.

White (admittedly) it's much easier for me, I think you can get there with a little practice. The hardest part is holding it long enough to transition back to dot the "i". Talk about performing under pressure!

Geee... Someone actually likes curling.
