Should we have multiple guest speakers on LucasCast?

I am posting this poll for feedback purposes only. We have already had multiple guests from LucasForums as guests on our podcasts. Should this be a regular thing?

Also, if you would like to nominate someone for a guest spot on one of our future podcasts, please give us reasons why.

Tell us something interesting about the individual, and then you can nominate them. You can even nominate yourself if you like, although that does not secure you a spot on a future podcast, but we will take it into consideration.

The minimum requirements are Sunday availability at 9pm GMT. A Skype account, and a fully functioning microphone/headset combo so we can hear you clearly.

Vote now!

Define "guest speaker".

Jae Onasi 03-07-2010 03:32 PM

Someone who's not a regular on the podcast would be a guest speaker. This would include guests from LF as well as people from LA and gaming companies, assuming they'd be willing to come on.

Bokken 03-07-2010 03:49 PM

Yes, I would like to nominate PastramiX.

Everyone vote for me; you know that my opinion is most appreciated and is vital to your own welfare and enjoyment of this podcast! o_Q

Yes, I'm sure we'd love to hear the voiced version of your skype comments about us. :dev8:

Bokken 03-07-2010 07:41 PM

You know what they say;

If you want something done right, get the person who thinks it's wrong to goof so that it ceases to be wrong.

Will it hurt less if I let Microsoft Sam dictate my thoughts? :tophat1:

You didn't say why, therefore you failed the simple task of nomination and your vote does not count.

KTHNXBYE

Bokken 03-08-2010 09:09 AM

You can truly have no idea how hard that made me laugh.

It's great.

Jae Onasi 03-08-2010 12:07 PM

OK guys, let's avoid conflict over this, please. I should not even have said anything publicly to Pastrami, so I apologize for that. It wasn't very professional of me.

That being said, please post your reasons for nominating someone as well as their names.

Bokken 03-08-2010 12:19 PM

Wait...there was conflict? I was serious about Groovy's post making me laugh. I could hear his voice in my head, and it sounded really weird when he said KTHNXBYE.

I nominated Pastrami because I just want to see if he could actually make order out of chaos. I don't much mind the chaos, but since there seems to be a fair number of people who do (and Pastrami's the most prominent), why not?

Order! Order I say!
I demand order in this podcast!

jrrtoken 03-08-2010 05:00 PM

Well, can someone at least pester LucasArts to go a-PR'ing for at least one episode. You know, so that we can ask them all of the hard questions.

Jeff's tried a number of times to get someone from LA on. Unfortunately, they've had some turnover, so past contacts who knew the owners pretty well are no longer there, and the current crop of PR folks don't seem to be terribly interested in supporting one of the biggest LA game fan forums on the net. :(
We'll keep asking, however.

Gabez 03-09-2010 03:59 AM

Surely we're THE biggest LucasArts game fan forum on the 'net? In fact, aren't we the only LucasArts game fan forum on the 'net?

Or are there rivals I didn't know about?

Jae Onasi 03-09-2010 11:08 AM

Since LA has their own forum now, I suspect we're no longer a priority. Given that we have one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, Kotor sections in the world, along with an active TOR forum (not to mention other LA games), I would think that would get their attention. It's a matter of finding the right PR person who can (and should) take us seriously.

Te Darasuum Mandalor 03-09-2010 11:55 AM

what about modders here on LucasForums? For instance, Logan23, Junior modder, and myslef who are working on TC's? Just an idea. You guys could also discuss Fanfics and other stuff of the sort.

Pho3nix 03-09-2010 12:07 PM

I would like to hear stoffe speak

Yes, can't really see that happening, but the stoffe would get my vote.

Kuuki 03-09-2010 08:44 PM

I dont think I can recall him being in one, but maybe perhaps Rogue 15

[edit]deleted a bunch[/edit]

Jae Onasi 03-10-2010 12:20 AM

I don't know if I could keep track of all the rogues in the cast.

Kuuki 03-10-2010 01:35 AM

just call Rogue 15, "15"

and Rogue for Higher as "R-F-H"

Lynk Former 03-10-2010 03:10 AM

Rogue15? Over my dead body :carms: I'll fight this to the death if I have to.

I know I'm no doctor (maybe Jae can check my facts for me), but if you fought to the death and lost wouldn't you be too dead to do the podcast?

Methinks stoffe hath bested us all.

Jeff 03-10-2010 10:14 PM

I will fight stoffe to the death, but then spare her life in exchange for doing the podcast.

mimartin 03-10-2010 10:31 PM

As I wrote before, if stoffe never appears on the podcast that means Jeff got his butt kicked. :D

I can confirm that when you are dead, you do not breathe, and breathing normally is required for speaking.

Te Darasuum Mandalor 03-11-2010 10:33 AM

I would like to nominate Logan23 to talk about his TC mod. We need modders for guest speakers sometimes.

ChAiNz.2da 03-27-2010 12:40 AM

Sorry for the slight res but I'm just now catching up on the episodes (slacker that I am :xp: )

Couldn't really vote with the 2 options since my take is a combo of the two. Yeah, I'm that difficult.. hehehe

I'm all for multiple guest speakers, however I think it should be dependent upon the content, style and time limitations (if any).

If the speaker is present for say, an interview (and round-table discussion afterwards about topics to be covered in the LC), I'd rather the LC stick to one guest so the speaker could get more airtime and perhaps a more in-depth interview. Personal, professional.. cover the gambit. If there's not enough to fill content then it would acceptable for more than 1 guest speaker. :)

If it's more of an open round-table, shoot the breeze, round robin type of LC, minus an interview... then more than one guest wouldn't be much of a distraction and could be quite fun :D

Either direction would be fine in my book, I'd just hate sacrificing any potential of 'getting to know' more about the speaker just for the sake of having as many voices as possible. Since hopefully the LC isn't going away, there's more than enough time to cover any nominations. No need to rush.

I'd much rather wait for an anticipated guest than to have them on for a "sweeps" rating, especially if it meant getting to know them better... hehehe (throw in a shameless nomination plugs for Prime, RedHawke & Shem ;) )

Just my :twocents:

YES. SECONDED. Especially some of the new modders on the scene. Would love to hear their take on the scene and how they're bringing fresh ideas (big & small) to a game that's been modded to all ends and back. And of course some of the veterans that started the madness from way back then. :D

EDIT: forgot to mention.
No matter the direction you gals-n-pals take, just wanted to give you a hearty "Great Job". The LC is a welcomed addition to my podcast subscriptions and I always look forward to them (albeit I hear them late). I hope that everyone appreciates all the work you put in to them. Also, don't forget to keep having fun doing them. Don't let it become a "job". ;) Just wanted to let you know that all of you have a fan. Keep up the great work.. you're doing a tremendous job!

Darth Avlectus 04-05-2010 06:56 PM

I don't do the skype thing--same reason I don't facebook, b/c I do banking online and this would create several holes in my security on several levels. :(

Haven't been keeping up on LC much lately...or at all.

I'll be serious here:

In the "HA, dream on!" category:

Kevin Smith...I mean who doesn't like the genius behind silent Bob?

Whoever the creator of Street Fighter was... I know there's AT LEAST a few people here who would share that one...

Keiji Inafune, creator of the megaman series. I'd love to ask him some questions...

Drew Karpyshyn--he's done work on the storyline for KOTOR 1, and mass effect, also has written the Darth Bane trilogy. Word is he is still looking for PR as he continues to churn away on SW:TOR.

In the down to earth category:

After having heard the whole dutch oven talk () I wonder what point man has to say about all that. :smirk2:

Hmm...just for mischief...Tommycat...because he said he can do Beavis and Butt-Head...and I really want to know if that was HIM I once heard on "The World Famous Frank Show" some years ago.

Astrotoy7...just because I think his user name is awesome.

Anyone that moderates the kotor section. Being around all of you funky-freaky nerds all the time, now I'd like to hear the sound of your voices.

Oh and uh...I also nominate Stoffe as well. :dev11: *runs away*

I nominate myself.

acdcfanbill 04-07-2010 02:23 AM

I second "myself", he often seems like a cool guy, though I sometimes disagree with the stuff he says.

Hallucination 04-07-2010 09:51 AM

Can we unnominate someone? If so, I unnominate 'myself', he's a total dick and should kill himself.
