Modeling new items

I was wondering if there was any way to model new items in blender instead os 3ds max. If not could someone tell me how and where to download 3ds max because I tried once and it wouldln't open and I have looked for tutorials for it and couldn't find any.
Thanks

I actually would be interested in hearing if this is possible, though I doubt it as Blender is used for more high-tech games. In modeling for Kotor, I usually use Gmax. If blender were compatible then it would make me very happy

Im using Gmax with the NWmax plugin to model, but me being a beginner its beyond frustrating.

Link to Gmax: http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax

You can model in any 3D app. You just need to export the game models via Max/GMax. Importing meshes from other apps into GMax using OBJs is possible via a 3rd party script - http://lucasforums.com/showpost.php?...5&postcount=12 and obviously Max has native OBJ support.

could anyone tell me where to find the files to model or tell me where a tutorial on it is. It would be a big help. Thanks

First you gotta have KotOR Tool its the biggest tool in anyone modding KotOR. Then go under:

BIFs>Items.bif>Auroramodel> Then find the object you want to model.

Also go under BIFs>Items.bif>mdx Then find the same name and extract that one too.

Keep both those files in the same folder then open up MDLops (Download it if you dont got it yet) Then click which game your modding, select your file then click read and write. It will create a new file for you to open in Gmax or 3DSmax. Then there ya go, that should be it i think. Although i skin objects more than model i think i covered it.
