Will Lucas forums remain active

inlight of the whole lucas arts closing or will the have to shutdown or rename the board disney something just wondering... what the future is here

mimartin 04-10-2013 05:29 PM

As far as I know, beyond some joking, there has been no discussion of changing the name or closing down this place. While LucasArts is no more, there will still be future Star Wars games and hopefully non-Star Wars LA franchise games. The recent years not withstanding, LucasArts had a rich history of producing some very memorable games over its life. No reason to act like it never happened just because Disney decided to go in a new direction. Most of us grew up playing and loving these games, Disney can not cannot cancel that.

Plus Lynk will not leave for us to turn out the lights.

LucasArts and all of its achievements, good and bad haven't suddenly stopped existing, and neither will we. They existed, they made a mark in gaming history and we'll still be around to honour their memory. In addition, any new Star Wars games made will still be part of our domain of interest. LucasArts may be gone but the LucasArts Fan Network will endure on...

...good enough answer for you?

Scorge 04-10-2013 06:22 PM

I will surely miss LucasArts, but I'm sure that LucasForums will not shut down, as something that mimartin and Lynk Former have pointed out.

The Doctor 04-10-2013 10:32 PM

It'll take more than the dismantling of LucasArts to destroy this place.

Sabretooth 04-11-2013 02:15 AM

No, it will just be renamed to Disneyforums

Vindikorr 04-11-2013 10:53 AM

Considering technically LucasArts hasn't 'shut down' but has changed to a licensing company, ie giving out the rights to use the star wars franchise for other companies like they did with BioWare and The Old Republic, I very much doubt these forums will be leaving anytime soon.

Shadows and dust, Disney! shadows and dust!

Keep it down, man! You wanna get us all sued?! :3pdance:

Lynk Former 04-11-2013 01:38 PM

An admin comes in and says this place isn't going to be shut down... everyone still acts like it's a possibility... wut?

We know all about your plans to move from internal posts to a licensing model, minimizing the forum's risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars posts.

We are incredibly appreciative and proud of all of you.

Speaks volumes about the admin that came in here, as well as the super moderator. :xp:

They will have to pry LucasForums from Lynk's cold dead hands to shut it down.

Lynk Former 04-11-2013 02:57 PM

This just in, we've sold LFN to Disney... lulz, just kidding :p

Blix 04-11-2013 06:53 PM

Wow so LA really is done for then? I figured that may happen with the Disney buy-out and all

Scorge 04-11-2013 07:48 PM

What? They gonna shut down LucasForums and make it a licensing company too?

The admins said No, so that means NO. Just calm down people.

Lynk Former 04-11-2013 07:58 PM

You're confusing LucasForums for LucasArts...

No I'm not, I'm saying LucasForums as if they were to shut it down and make it a licensing company, just as it happened to LucasArts.

Miltiades 04-11-2013 10:02 PM

OH MY GOD IS LUCASFORUMS GOING TO BE SHUT DOWN? I'M NOT SURE IF LYNK WAS BEING HONEST OR HIS USUAL DECEITFUL SELF!!!!

purifier 04-12-2013 02:30 AM

So would this be a bad time to bring up a discussion about creating a Aladdin or Pocahontas forum? I mean ya'll would be cool with that, right? :p

Vindikorr 04-12-2013 03:50 AM

To clarify: Lucas Forums is NOT going to be shut down

Sorry 'bout the bold :)

Darth Avlectus 04-12-2013 05:04 AM

I don't see why WE have to dissolve, just because LA is now dead and fallen.

It may take on some different flavors, this forum, but it will still be here. BTW nice to make your acquaintance OP.

Princess wands for Twi'leks?

GeneralPloKoon 04-15-2013 02:27 PM

We must be careful, Disney is watching...

:stormmask

Alkonium 05-07-2013 12:23 AM

I thought this was an independent fanmade forum anyway. ie, LucasArts and LucasFilm have no actual power over this place, beyond what they can do with copyrights.

Lynk Former 05-07-2013 02:17 AM

This is an independent forum.

Darth Avlectus 05-08-2013 10:55 PM

Of course it is Alk. Do you think the real LA would put up with half our shenanigans in the forum games?

I love these people. :D

Sabretooth 05-08-2013 11:52 PM

LA put up with a metric ****load of shenanigans in their own management so I donno man

Boba Rhett 05-09-2013 02:02 PM

Remember, for the last decade the LucasArts offices have seen nothing but pillow fights and coke wars.

Nedak 05-09-2013 02:18 PM

I haven't been on here in a long time, but with more Star Wars games comes more posters on here. If one happens to be very good you'll probably have posters like me coming back.

So I hope it remains active.
