Permissions Thread

In light of recent events, I, for one, feel that my policy about sharing and changing my mods is too strict. Therefore, I officially would like to announce that anyone can change, upload, relocate, or otherwise share or modify any of my mods, past or future, publicly or privately with absolutely no credit at all!

I think that this policy is a much better policy than most of the previous, "Don't re-upload, share, or change without express permission." I hope that others will follow in my example.

If this is for all to give their permission, all mine follow this policy retroactively and in the future from now on. also darth_deadman had posted a status update on deadly stream expressing this exact feeling. (http://deadlystream.com/forum/status...status_id=2832)

Sweet! I'll still send you messages though if I plan to use more stuff in my mods. :)

Vindikorr 06-14-2013 01:39 PM

I think this is a good idea, especially for people that want to use mods by people that haven't been on the forums in over a year...

Ditto.

It's just seems like common sense to me.

I'm going to follow suit, but on the condition you email or message me in some way, regardless on if I respond, just tell me what it's for.

Not that I've made very much but I plan on making more in the future. So I give full permissions for all my current and future mods. You may edit them and re-release them or even just re-host them. I am not going to ask for credit in your read-me no one reads those andways and if they do they don't read the special thanks section. So what I do ask for is a post in your thread that it was originally my work.

Thanks-Supreme Kotor

A lot of people do, actually. Myself included.

We'll just assume you were only kidding.

I'm following suit here. No credit required at all. People who know me will recognize my stuff, people that don't won't care anyway.

Happy Anniversary KOTOR 1 from an old veteran. If you can find them and if there still out there in memory of my favorite game and modding community I shall follow SithSpecters lead as well. No permissions required or credit in readme's and if you are hosting Kotor mods feel free to rehost my mods as well.

Dak Drexl 07-17-2013 08:45 AM

No need to ask for permission to use my stuff either - go wild!

Haven't released too much stuff(it's all at Deadlystream), but I also choose to follow this policy. I hereby declare all of my work, past and future, permissions-free; however, I reserve the right to withhold this policy on any big projects that I release in the future, subject to their read-mes.

Darth DeadMan 07-02-2014 11:44 PM

Like I said on Deadlystream (OMG, it was a year ago!) - no need to ask my permission, even if readme says otherwise. Anyone can rehost my mods as well.

ChAiNz.2da 08-18-2014 01:35 PM

Yeah, I had posted something of the like for my stuff "back in the day" when the site had blogs. Since I've been absent for, ahem... some time, seems those no longer exist :fist:

All of my mods (Past, Present and Future) are now up for free-for-all.

Modify, merge, incorporate, abuse, punish, etc. them as you will.

-----------
The ONLY stipulation(s) I ask are that:

1) Please don't re-upload my original as-is mods as 'standalone'. Most of my mods are convoluted at best and may require support the uploader isn't aware of (patches/fixes/etc). I need to know where my mods are uploaded in order to do that, preferably under my own account so I have proper access and privileges ;)

2) Please give mention or credit. Not so much for me, as I don't really care, but for any of my mods that may have required contributions from other talent. Both, Kreia's Assorted Robes and USM ESPECIALLY.

3) Regarding the USM. Despite what past PMs and emails sent to me seem to think, USM is NOT "my" mod.. I am just a part of the team that happened to be around the most at the time of it's popularity and had a private site where we could host it (and my name is alphabetically first.. hehehe :p ) If any of the other authors return or have issues with parts of it being shared/distributed, then all bets are off. I WILL take sides with them and whatever they wish. However as it's quite old, and let's be honest, there are other (better) alternatives.. I don't think the crew will mind. Hell, the fact it's still being considered is enough to make me smile. :) So for now, it too is "free-for-all", however no standalone re-uploads, please (see #1)
-----------

Stipulations aside, concerning #1, most of my mods are already available at most of the popular depots including Deadly Stream, Filefront, GameBanana and my own site, JumpStationZ. I AM currently working on NEXUS versions as well.

This obviously wouldn't apply to merges/fixes/patches etc. that may require the sum total, portions or parts of my mods. By all means, include and re-upload those assets within your own mod to your heart's desire. :D
