there's the "2-Handed Weapon" feat?? and just like in DnD, anyone
can fight 2-handed, it's just the proficiencies/feats reduce the actual penalty when incorporating the style... not to menion that KotOR penalizes you depending on what type of weapon you use and wether or not it's a "balanced" item...
games though, I agree.... suffer using D20 system. LA, (IMHO) just use an already established system to focus their development in other areas of gameplay...
