In regard to the question, these soldiers aren't meant to be commandos, but ordinary troops who organized themselves into squads and take on operations that commando squads might be faced with. When I first started, I planned on having multiple fanfics, following the missions from SW:BFII. I was going to have them be upgraded each mission as they gained respect for their work. Eventually, the few who were still alive would be ultimate commandos of the Empire. Since this was the plan I had to start out with lower spec equipment; faulty wiring, ordinary DC-15s, etc. Now, I don't think that I'm going to go past this mission, but I might still try to throw in that theme. Maybe at the end, if I can get there, I'll give them an upgrade or something.
