covers storms from 1851 to 2007.According to this data and adding Ike to it 9 Category 2 or above storm have hit within 65 nautical miles of where I live since 1900. 1900, 1909, 1915, 1932, 1945, 1949, 1961, 1983 and 2008 and only one of them was Category 5 storm. Hardly bi-annual if my math is correct.
