They're not creating them to destroy them or creating them for the sole purpose of experimenting on them and then destroying them, they're going to be destroyed anyway, and it's both illogical and immoral to simply destroy them if experimentation upon them could save or improve lives. As mentioned in the OP, the cells were part of embryos that were to be used for in vitro fertilization
, where many embryos are created in case some do not develop properly once implanted.
