The security hole that Conficker exploited was patched by Microsoft months before the worm was released. The only reason people should be infected is because they failed to keep their machine up to date. It's not MS's fault this time, folks. Saying it was so would be similar to considering the Apache web server full of security holes because someone's install of it hadn't been updated for a long time (that is, the same goes for Linux too).
