Food for thought: The Jewish community makes up something like 1.2% of the U.S. population. Non-theists make up about 15% (I tried to come up with a conservative guess based on the high-end and low-end numbers I hear bandied about). Considering how much clout the Israel lobby has in the U.S. it would be interesting to see what would happen if non-theists were equally organized.
