I'm reading David Copperfield
myself, Dickens's enduringly famous novel of a young man's journey from his unhappy childhood -- abused by his step-father and his sister, the ominously named Murdstones -- and school years to finding his calling as a novelist. This is the book which produced such vivid characters as the impecunious Mr. Micawber and the 'umble' Uriah Heep. How exciting.
