Meds can help some people, do nothing for others, and make a few worse. It's not something you can know before it's tried.
I've seen several people REALLY change their self-destructive, reckless ways after treatment. I've seen a few not respond at all.
But if someone is already in a headlong death-spiral of anti-social behavior before they even get any treatment and counseling, it's hard to imagine how someone professional paying attention to them and looking for ways to pull them out is a negative thing. Worst case scenario is that it doesn't help at all and the destructive feedback loop continues. In which case, nothing has changed...
