TheForce.Net has reported that Peter Mayhew is to appear in Episode 3, but his contract will extend to Episodes 7, 8, and 9....

Interesting news, but do you think it has any validity?

Will the fabled third trilogy of sorts actually hit the big-screen?

As much as it would be neat to see a third trilogy, I think they should just end it after episode three lol. I think that is plenty.

Man at this rate episode 7,8 and 9 will be out by the time I am 40. Lucas needs to learn from Peter Jackson on how to release a trilogy properly.

Lucas will probably forget he even said that (if he did). I find it very unlikely that there'll be and Ep 7,8,9. And I thought that Chewie got killed by Yuhzan Vong in the EU.

i'm not sure if any of you guys have heard this or not.

GL has sold the rights to 7,8, and 9 to good friend Steven Spielberg. and he said that most likely he would carry them to the BIG screen with good ol george as executive producer and technical adviser.

Spielberg's movies are usually okay, lets hope that they improve the acting.

To be honest, from reading the articles on TFN, it seems to be a serious case of Chinese Whispers going on here. i didn't say it was FACT i said it is what i heard.

the only place i can remember anything about it was on either the Ep1 DVD or Ep2 DVD

Heck no. How would we get actors to play to parts of those in the OT? Those guys are like, almost 80 years old. No way. 7, 8, and 9 won't happen at all. If it does, Luke, Leia, Han, all those, probably won't be the focus of attention. There would be a new main character. There would HAVE to be one.

You know, CGI is pretty good these days...Maybe the won't need them to play - just someone with the same general features as the originals.

This has even been a question on "Ask the Jedi Council" on the official site. GL said NO. Making Ep3, doing the OT DVDs and producing Indy 4 have/will occupy the last 10+ years of his life...he will be in his 60s. Maybe something related to SW may eventaute one day(which I doubt), but say farewell to 7-9... be grateful that SW has a decent EU !

ANYONE who can quote a LEGITIMATE source of DIRECT evidence, about George Lucas corroborating those allegations himself will be awarded the medal not unlike Leia gave to Luke and Han in ANH, personally, by ME !!

One can dream...however...if the series ends on a *high* note with this last one - I think they should just leave it... Maybe do a SW spin off - but let's leave our hero's alone....and not screw it up.

i think 7, 8, and 9 would be better then the prequels because lucas would have more freedom

in the prequels he has to make anakin become vader

what is he required to do in the sequels? nothing! he can do whatever he pleases

i wouldnt mind sequels but i doubt it

Also, Im not as worked up as you think. I love SW and Im eagerly awaiting Ep3, but its just frustrating reading that stuff, the forums here are usually full of cool info, great insights and fun discussions.... You have to realise, being a theforce.net veteran, Im just *really*......*really* tired of that stuff......... I still have nightmares about a poster who stated "reliable sources have told me the Borg from Star Trek will be in Episode 2" and was being dead serious, not to mention stupid....

I agree with you on that one. Lucas has no limits whats so ever screw the bools written but I hope they include kyle or Mara Jade they do rule but I am sure he wont.
