New Expansion!! Only for X-Box
Just in time for holiday play, LucasArts is giving away a new downloadable level for the Xbox version of Star Wars Battlefront II. Available this week through Xbox Live, the newly added Assault mode on Kashyyyk adds another location for the Hero Free-for-All, a mode previously seen only when you selected Assault at Mos Eisley. As the millions who have played the game already know, Hero Free-for-All pits all 17 of Battlefront II's hero and villain characters against one another in an ultimate Star Wars battle royale.
But that's only the beginning. This January, an even bigger download will be made available for Battlefront II fans via Xbox Live. For only $4.99, players gain two new playable hero characters (a buff Kit Fisto and a new weapon-wielding Asajj Ventress) as well as four of their favorite maps from the original Star Wars Battlefront. Each of the new maps, including Yavin 4: Arena, Bespin: Cloud City, Rhen Var: Harbor and Rhen Var: Citadel, boasts Conquest, Capture-the-Flag and Hero Free-for-All (which adds the new characters, as well). New gameplay modes for maps already in the game are also planned, but have yet to be finalized.
Kit Fisto made his mark in Attack of the Clones as one of the hundreds of Jedi led by Mace Windu to free the captive Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padmé Amidala on Geonosis. In Revenge of the Sith, he joined Mace and two other Jedi to arrest Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, only to fall to the Sith blade of Darth Sidious.
Best known for her thrilling duel with Anakin Skywalker on Yavin 4 during Cartoon Network's Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series, Asajj Ventress serves as a Separatist commander in service to Count Dooku. Battlefront II equips her with devastating fibercord-linked lightsabers.
To access the new content, select "Multiplayer" from the main menu of the Xbox version of Battlefront II. Log-on to Xbox Live, select "Downloadable Content" and look for new Battlefront II selections. Enjoy!

Woah, that sounds cool, old maps brought back, new heroes, Hero Assault on more maps and a mysterious "new gameplay modes for maps already in the game" Too bad it's only for Xbox.

I hope so, it would be a major dissapointment if it was only for the Xbox version...

Yes however from what I've heard we PC users have to wait until January to get it. It will be the first any ONLY patch. So we better hope everything has been fixed.

wait, it's going to be the only patch we get? Well then I certainly hope it fixes all the problems. I'm certainly willing to wait until January, so long as the patch is good.

Where is this only patch info coming from? Does PS2 have any service to distrubute patches? I don't have one so I don't know.

I can quote directly from a dev in a private e-mail but that might piss him off.

BFD... no offence but I still think PC version is better, so what if we have to wait a bit more... we have almost infinite map choices thru mods, and then some!!!
Well, X-Box do have that funny cheat though ... :3

I think it is coming out on the PC, too. So no need to brag. I think it is in the patch

Oh well, if thats what we get in the one and only PC patch then its one pretty damn good patch.
Would much rather regular patch updates... when devs support games after the release it usually leads to mod communities supporting them tenfold.

They should probably do it for PS2 players who have internet ACs before giving it to the PC players, since they can hardly download software.

I would have prefered Commander Cody and a new Rebel hero (Lando) instead, but these will still be good. I guess they make sense with the levels, (Asajj on Yavin with Anakin) but I still think Cloud City will be incomplete without Lando.
I'm glad they are bringing back the original maps, though I still want Dune Sea. I have a suspision they'll cut the aircraft from Cloud City though.
The new gametypes should be killer though, can't wait.
Battlefront II common classes: Bothan Spy, Imperial Officer, Clone Commander or the Droid Engineer. Without points an Engineer or Vanguard.

Bespin: Cloud City doesn't have any aircraft, it's an infantry map, Bespin: Platforms is the one with aircraft, which isn't included.
No, please no Lando, he'd just be another crappy pistol hero spouting out poor Billy Dee Williams impressions. Heroes should be lightsabers only, the Rebels have the worst heroes.

Depsite not having this for PS2...even if there was one for PS2. I probably wouldn't buy it. I barely play Battlefront II anymore. I am usually playing BFME or BFME II Beta. And I would have enough money anyway. I still have to get Eaw and BFME II. Well, would have been nive to have this in when it was released in November.

Yes.
LA seems to be holding Pandemic on the leash to just receive more money from the Expansion. You should go check out the Lucasarts forums. They are swarmed with PC, PS2, and Non-XBL Xbox players flaming, ranting, and spamming up the area.
I do have to agree as I PC gamer myself, that Lucasarts should think about feedback support rather than the cha-ching from those anxious customers and gamers.

LA's new buiness model: selling parts of a game to make a whole game. How much is the next patch going to cost for PC games? $4 per new map? $2 for a new hero? $3 for a sniper crosshair? I'm not paying for any upgrades.
Or am I wrong and $4.99 is the cost of the Xbox live service per month?
EDIT: Someone else posted the same info after this thread was started: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?p=1971118

Ahh, it's Cloud City, my mistake, well that makes it that much worse now, I really liked the Platforms level, but ah well.
I still think Lando would be good if they did him in a fun way, like give him a really fun weapon, like a disintergration rifle (similar, but more like a machine gun, to the one in Jedi Knight 2), mad I know, but you are right, the Rebel heroes suck and they need something to make the better. Crazy and fun (but Star Wars themed) weapons would help.

It's weird that they didn't put in Platforms to go with Cloud City, instead they put in Yavin IV: Arena!? I hated that map.

Meh, with all the space battles Bespin Platforms seems kind of pointless, I mean it was a bit too small to actually space fight effectivly. It might have been kind of fun to try it with the improved starfighter controls though. What would really be cool is some kind of combination of the two...
Yavin doesn't make sense to me either, It wasen't a very popular map, but at least where getting Bespin/Rhen Var as well.
As for Lando, I could care less about new heroes actually, they're either just yet another random force user (yawn) or more blaster users who kind of suck. He might have been kind of cool for a Bespin map, but it would be the map itself I really want back, Lando would just be a nice addition.
