Well each community on LucasForums is its own thing really, almost as if they were separate forums. Many people stick to just one forum (eg: Monkey Island Discussion) and never venture elsewhere, and most of the people who use the Star Wars forums pretty much never visit those under the general titles column.
As such, it's best to introduce yourself in specific communities. I guess some of the more popular ones could have an introduction forum, but you'd have to post in
their feedback forum or something.
