Chocolate Jesus offends Catholic spokesman

I have no idea who this Bill Donohue is, but he's made global headlines by attacking a full-size crucified Jesus Christ - made out of chocolate and wearing nothing but a chocolate smile.

Call me a cold-hearted ole atheist, but I personally cannot understand how this chocolate messiah is so offensive. Is it that it's naked? That it's made out of chocolate? That he's dark-skinned?

Bill Donahue, completely out of perspective with the rest of the "assaults on Christian sensibilities in the world", calls it "one of the worst assaults on Christian sensibilities ever". What are your opinions?

Oh, and forgive me for the thread's title (a fundamentalist a spokesman for Catholics?). I seriously need sleep and I guess my brain's partly shut itself down for the day.

I think it was the fact that he was naked. I think it's kind of tasteless (pun not intended), but I don't feel particularly offended. He was naked on the cross, after all.

Doing it up in chocolate is kind of a weird media, but oh well. I'm trying desperately to keep my mind out of the gutter about what happens as one eats their way through the chocolate anatomy [Jae failz, loses a Purity Point]

Well different people have different opinions on this, its hard to define what is offensive anymore really.

I believe the expression is: "There's no such thing as bad publicity."

And between some Christians and Muslims, indignant moral outrage seems to be a perpetual lifestyle choice.

The problem is that the Jesus statue contains peanuts, and Bill Donohue thinks it's wrong that someone could hurt himself by chewing on the chocolaty Saviour.

Let's kill ourselves.

I checked the ingredient list--those weren't peanuts, Hall.

It should have been made from white chocolate.

Lucky him. I can only attack these little chocolate eggs. I'd take communion everyday -- what a great incentive chocolate host wafers would be.

Actually he's pissed because he made Jesus hollow.
