FT2 for console

I'm sorry they shut down the X-Box thread, because I wanted to respond.

I, for one, am GLAD that FT2 is for the console, and I'll tell you exactly why: Cruise over to the other thread about trying to get the original Throttle to work on a modern PC-- with patches, and ScummVM, and all sorts of total b.s. Do you think most people want to fool with all that PC-related garbage? NO!!! We just want to throw the game in the console and go...

That's the beauty of consoles, no muss, no fuss. I love it. I love knowing that the game will be all optimized for the particular console and the controls will be thought out and I won't have any freeking compatability issues. Jeezuz! PLUS, since consoles are so popular, maybe more and more people will get into Throttle. Wouldn't that be awesome?

And let me just say this: GAMING IS NOT ABOUT POLYGONS. Who CARES how many polygons are on the screen, if the game sucks? If you can't get good titles for your console, you have a $199 boat anchor.

I'm not saying the X-Box is worthless, not at all. But please. It's not about polygons, or technology. It's about having a wide assortment of excellent titles-- and right now, that's the PS2, hands down.

If it was only about technology, why would anyone ever buy a GameBoy?

becasue it's handheld and portable (play on the bus, train, ni the car whatever) but anyway, i for one, like playing games on my PC, btu that's just me. people may agree, people may not. consoles have advantages of PC's, PC's have advantages of consoles (gameplay is faster with shortcut keys, the average keyboard has about 100 different keys with options of combinations, the average gamepad for a PS or PS 2 has about 10-15). also, computers vary, so some may be able to render graphics much better than a PS with a simple upgrade, with the PS2, you are stuck with the graphics that come with the console.

also, ben whathisname closed the last topic on his note of "i have a pc, i think they better blah blah blah..." i would just like to say that the closest i come to owning a console is my play station emulator on my PC which i don't even use anymore. it's PC all the way for me (PC games are relativly cheaper also)

Yeah, I know.

That's the point I was making.

It isn't always just about technology, it can be about lots and lots of other advantages.

I was just on LucasArt's product page and saw listings for only PC and PS2 releases for FT2. At least LEC isn't gonna release it for x-box. They said it was "for PC and nex-gen consoles" and must have realised that "next-gen" doesn't include that lame Microsoft attempt at being cool. M$ can't even make a decent OS - what made them think they could make the leap to consoles?

What do you mean "Do nothing"? Thanks to linux binaries and WineX, almost all my directx games are playable in linux. I use windows as well, btw. Just stated that Microsoft still hasn't figured out how to make a stable os, so they should have all their coders working on that instead of trying to join the console race.

XP rarely crashes, it's mainly just program problems now which XP just closes down when theres a problem, but as far as i can soo, not blue scree with the control alt delete message comes up. still, ity's opretty crap and can't play any of the old games (that's why i have a partition with win 98 on it as well as xp). and yes, the X-box is crap although i'm not getting into that argument again.

How the game plays is important (the most important), but in a game like Full Throttle let's not forget that half the coolness of the thing comes from its high-concept top-quality atmosphere and sense of style... and thats very dependant on high quality visuals (along with some gusty wind sounds and really rumbly bassy piano music maybe ).
