I have heard patches are better than curves, but why? You can make shapes with patches you can't with curves, but a bevel cap is a bevel cap is it not...

patches are curves. They're the same. Unless i'm getting the question wrong. Bevels and cylinders and what not are all patches, unless your just refering to the "simple patch mesh"\

Even in that case. A cylinder or a bevel or a cap of a bevel is a simple patch mesh, just preformatted.
