help with shaders

hey all,
iv'e tried to teach myself shaders but i just can't do it. Shader ed does not work on my comp and all i want is a simple shader that will scroll my image like a ticker. There are no tutorials that FULLY explain them start to finish, and i dont know what to do. Could someone help me out, or show me a link to a good one. Thanks in advance.
-Mix

Find a shader from the game that does what you want, for example the scrolling starfield, or a custom shader that does that like the coruscant ads, and look at the shader code. THe thing that makes it scroll is "tcmod scroll x y" where x is the speed for x scrolling and y is the vertical component. Cannibalize from other shaders like I do, you'll learn fast from that

There's always the shader manual from the editing tools, too.

Yeah. You might also try to find out, why ShaderEd does not work. Even if the only virtue of that program is to preview your shaders, it's extremely usefull at that. Far easier than loading the game everytime you try to adjust your flashing lightmap to certain base value and frequency (or in your case adjust a scrolling speed).
