Just wanted to see if I could get something cleared up for me... With the higher level smiths being able to customize their wares, how far does the customization go? Can you change sizes, colors, shapes? Where does the freedom stop?

The item customization skill you earn as an artisan alters palettes, earning you a maximum of 255 choises of colours.

Shapes and sizes has to do with the materials and components used.

Quality has to do with materials, and the skills of the artisan who manufactures the item.

Where does the freedom stops? We don't know. But we know there's 1500+ unique items you can make, at the moment.
