€uro?
This might not interest many people outside europe(sweden), but I post it anyways...
In two weeks we will vote about if we are going to have euro in sweden. Right now, it seems like we will get a "no".
"No" has about 60% of the votes, and "Yes" has 40%.
Good things if we get a "Yes":
Sweden has very high taxes(almost highest in the world), And if we would get "Yes" some people believe in that they will at least get a little lower. Also we would get more big companies. It would be much more cheap to visit other countries(at the moment it's VERY expensive). The people who says "yes" also says: look at finland! they became much richer when they changed to euros!
You can say that most of the right(Republicans, Democrats) side wants "Yes"
Good things if we get a "No":
People believe in that we won't be able to control our own economy if we change to euros. They also mean that everything will get more expensive if we change. The people who says "No" also says: look at Germany! they became much poorer when they changed to euros!
You can say that most of the left(Socialists, Communists) side wants "No"
What do you guys who live in europe and already has euros(everybody else too) think about this? Yes or No?

I'm undecided as for Sweden. None of my business .
I'd vote no, I think, mostly because of nostalgia and traditional feeling .
Okay, if I really was to vote and Norway was in the EU, I'd go yes. If we are to enter the EU, let's do it all the way.
But since we're/they're not, why do we need the Euro?
So I voted "yes" at your poll.

looking far into the future on mankind there is no other way than a common worldwide currency. except for we find another way to trade..
i am from germany.. therefore i already got the euro. let me say .. it seems that every thing has the "same price" as before.. i mean.. the same value but with a € sign standing behind it. before the euro i paid circa 50-60DM for a weekend shopping.. now i pay 50-60 euros per weekend. the changing course is 1euro is round about 2dm..
of course the tradesmen deny any increase of prices during the euro changeover .. yeah right. and before? and after? do they think the customers are stupid?
but besides this (and i dont know how this is in other "eurocountries"), the principle of the euro is a positive thing.
..

I'm quite sure you all figured it out but anyways; I think it would be madness to not change to €.
But keep on saying what you think!

I expect that after Anna Lindh's tragic asassination, people who were previously will vote yes out of sympathy.
I'll check the Norwegian media for some estimates tomorrow.

True(for those who didn't know: Anna lindh was swedens colin powel(the occupation). She was one of the polticians who wanted to have euro in sweden. Sadly, she was murdered last thursday when she was out shopping. The knife is found, but the man who stabbed her is still not found.)
Now, "Yes" leads with 1%, and has now 46%. "No" has 45%. But we will see. In about 5 hours we will know... Yes or no...

Sweden lost the poll (it came out a No, so you can have a guess at what I would have voted). Seriously, though, looking at the principles of the Euro, there are, roughly, the following pros and cons:
Pro:
Influence over where the european money politics will go.
Con:
Loss of control over where the national money politics will go.
Centralization of power.
The loss of control over national money politics is, IMO, neglictible, 'cuz we get in a long, happy line after Germany and the US anyway. Also, I don't see the problem of centralizing the control of the coinage... But alot of people view that as a problem.
