my take on the patch by looking at the new dedicated server program

I dunno if people commented on this or not. Looks like they fixed the frame rate issue because they removed the tps command. You can also have up to 1000 tickets per side. Also they added admin but you need to have the server box open to use it. So there is no ingame admin. So if you run the server from home or have remote desktop you can admin a server but if you rent one there is no way for you to admin the server. You can select the person in the player list and ban or kick them. Even though the lack of admin server side is not there if they fixed the game play issues and the fps issues I think this patch will work out very well. And hopefully they made the server more reliable. Just my take on the new server program.

I reckon as well the tps has been fixed, the only problem with increasing the tps was that you couldnt enter most vehicles

Tadaa!

Many hosts have a panel where you can perform admin operations over the web, so rcon is still possible (just not in-game).

If you want remote admin, check the Editing board. There is someone already working on remote admin capabilities. He already has it working for the current server build, and stated he is waiting to release his new version until they release the new server build.

I like what I see so far with the new dedicated server...

It has a session 1 and a session 2, does this mean you can run two servers at the same time?

You can change the ticket counts of either sides on each map independently (i.e. you can set it so that at start the droids have 400 tickets while the clones have 300 tickets). This will be great for balancing maps according to race!

I like being able to set spawn invicibility. Gonna do away with people who spawn camp with vehicles! Very much needed! You can max it at 10 seconds.

And of course gotta love being able to kick and ban people from your server!

They still haven't addressed the windows size or sizability. You need a rez higher then 1024 x 768 to see the whole window. Just annoying as hell. Especially when most people interface with their servers at low resolutions!

Otherwise it's looking pretty good.

Who knows yet. We'll need to wait for the actual client patch for that information. The server files do not have any info pertaining to spectate. I'm kinda doubting they included it with the patch, but who knows we might be suprised.
