Question XP Problems - An Old Story

Please - Please - Please help, I have just bought GF for the second time. I originally bought it when it came out and ran it with moderate results on my antiquated Win 95 machine. On giving my old computer away to my brother so the game went with it (silly me).

Anyway, I have just purchased a new one and loaded it on my XP machine quite successfully, BUT when I click on play button on launcher my system switches its self off and reboots, caused by a fatal error with graphics card.

Tried without success to make it run in combatibility mode and to turn down graphics card and update cards drivers with no success anybody care to help. It has been almost 3 years since I completed the game and need a new fix of this beutifully perfect game.

Download the patch from lucasarts.com.
If you can't launch the game from the launcher, then try the *.exe-file in the directory.

What'd **** !?!?

Thanks but installed the patch and just tried your suggestion and still receive this "Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078)" comming from Mircosoft when I send the error to them once my system has switched its self off and rebooted its self.

I am getting really tried of this

sounds like it could be a direct x problem. id suggest you downgrade to about version 6.X however i dont think this is possible to do on an xp based machine.

get that pc back off your brother and get win98 on it!
