Angry Graphics Issues HELP!!!

I Just have HORRIBLE Graphic bugs in the game, when you begin (in Manny's office) the screen is full of long horizontal pink lines, sometimes in certain places the objects have more 'priority' than manny, Manny just appears behind some things like walls. I've got an Athlon XP 2700+ @ 2167Mhz with a GeForce FX 5200 128Mb, DirectX 9.0c and Windows XP Professional
I'v tried everything and it doesn't works. According to the help files it's a DirectX problem, but it doesn't makes any sense...
I'v tested it in my other computer (P2 333Mhz, Stealth III S540 32Mb, W98SE) and the same thing happens.
That would not be so bad, it's still playable in the first year, but when you reach Ruvacaba the bugs get worse and the game crashes when you go to certain areas or when you do some things.
Please help me...

try running the game in 16bit colour mode instead of 32bit, this might solve the issue.
