The Power of Editing
My buddy Anthony and I were walking in the Valley when a very scary plastic robot from channel 4 if we wouldn't mind being interviewed on what we think about having an Adults Only rating on Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.
Well, I got pretty deep into why I think there shouldn't be an adults only rating on the game. My friend Anthony sort of copied my words but added a few of his own cents. We both agreed that it would be creepy to watch ourselves on TV that night but we did anyway. They completely changed our points through very hasty editing. They had me saying, "It's definitely one of their more popular games out there." and Anthony saying, "It's a kid-oriented thing."
I'm not bitter about it, I just thought it'd be an interesting thing to discuss.
There's no earthly way of knowing which direction we are going. There's no knowing where we're rowing or which way the river's flowing. Is it raining? Is it snowing? Is a hurricane a-blowing? Not a speck of light is showing, so the danger must be growing. Are the fires of hell a-glowing? Is the grisly reaper mowing? Yes, the danger must be growing 'cause the rowers keep on rowing, and they're certainly not showing any signs that they are slowing. AAAGGHHH!!!

Ah, they do that all the time. It's pretty much what I was expecting and why you can't trust network TV news in America.
On a lighter note, this thread is home to this post. This is because:

If the mod was included when you bought it, yes.
But now, just for some random guy to search in some game files and find that, then turning it to a downloadable mod!
Thats like saying Hhalf-Life 2 should be mature only because there is a nude Alyx model!(Which Garry doesn't like, wierdos spam his forum with wierd poses.)

I think the meat of the GTA issue is ho's, pimps, violence, swearing and murder provide wholesome family entertainment, but as soon as you throw in a pixelated nipple and what is essentially a rythem based mini-game, suddenly its unappropriate for parents.
I'm assuming it was an Americain TV station, which explains everything since I once saw a movie trailer that had the quote "best film ever" when the full quote was "Could have been the best film ever but it sucked. Seriously. I mean it sucked like that 'h* in GTA."
People who call me 'paranoid' are probably in on the plot.

You make proper assumptions.
Seriously, our news sucks. The only trustable thing we have is NPR.

I respect you for your obviouse sillyness Smon. How about you edit this!
Listening to you, I get the music
Gazing at You, I get the heat
Following you, I climb the mountain
I get excitement at your feet
Right behind you, I see the millions
On you, I see the glory
From you, I get opinions
From you, I get the story

You know me, I'm a die-hard liberal, but I think the AO rating is quite fine. It's one thing to censor a game. I'd fight against that to the death. But rating it so that parents know not to get their 12-year-old kids the game is fine by me. Yes, most twelve-year-olds can handle, but really, it's not like the game has any redeeming value, or art in it, aside from innovative gameplay and rather sickish entertainment.
Point is this-- parents gave the thing hell, as well as the FCC, and actually made Rockstar take out the interactive sex aspect of the game. Now that's actually criminal. At the very least, contrary to ideology of America of freedom of press and speech (as well as, of course, various other countries). But the rating system? Hey, fine. I wouldn't want my 10-year-old killing pedestrians and ****ing whores before dealing drugs and engaging in gang war for entertainment. Slap the AO rating on, baby.
I can't seem to think up a good signature.

AO ratings mean you have to be 18 to buy it. I don't care about it that much either, but it's still a rating does a little more that "just" notify the parents.

Which is the essence of a rating. You still have to be 18 to see an R-rated movie in theatres, but I'm seventeen. You know how many R-rated movies I've seen? A ****ing billion. Why? Cause my parents are okay with it and attend the movie with me (if it's in theatres). So, fact of the matter is, if a parent is okay with their kid having this game, they can go out and buy it for them (which is usually the case anyway).
I can't seem to think up a good signature.

...or they can bug their parents for as long as it takes to get the game (which is usually pretty short for experienced kids).
